STANLEY STY92824, 69-Piece Black Chrome Mechanics Tool Set

This socket set was exactly what I was looking for in a set. It has everything you need in a socket set to get started. I really needed some quality sockets and ratchets that would handle rusted and heat-cycled bolts well. I wanted a wide range of sockets and I also needed the extras that came in this set as well. The main thing I needed was a good spark plug socket which you get in this set. I also needed basic extensions which I also found useful in this set as well. The main negative I have with this set is the case. The hinges are made of plastic which can fail over time. Additionally, some sockets were not held down enough and would slip around. I solved this problem by lining the top with bubble wrap which provides just enough "cushion" to keep the looser sockets in. I have included pictures of the lined top so you can see what I did to solve this problem. 19.00in. x 12.00in. x 3.25in. is confirmed as the dimensions of the tool box. Socket ranges: 3/16"-13/16" imperial 6mm-19mm metric Included in this set is: *3/8" drive extension(6 inches) *1/4" drive extension(3 inches) *Standard Spark plug socket(13/16")(Has rubber inside to prevent ceramic breakage) *Smaller spark plug socket(5/8")(Has rubber inside to prevent ceramic breakage) *30 1/4" drive sockets(Short and deep sockets/Imperial and metric/6 point) *33 3/8" drive sockets(Short and deep sockets/Imperial and metric/6 point) Pros: *Great large font etched onto the side for sizing. Allows really easy identification of socket size. *Handles heat cycled and rusted bolts very well *Great ratchet arms *Looks great Cons: *Case is not that great unless you line it with bubble wrap or some other material to keep things from moving(-1/2 a star) Additional Considerations: This set only has 1/4" and 3/8" drive ratchet arms so be away that a lot of this stuff cannot be used on a 1/2" drive ratchet (like a torque wrench for example) Overall: 4.5/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, <.5 rounds down) => 5 stars If you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Las piezas son de muy buena calidad, me gustó el acabado, el estuche presente algunos detalles en cuanto al ensamble de las piezas pero solo son rebabas, solo corte el remanente y listo!. Lo recomiendo

As someone who grew up with Craftsman tools, it has pained me to see how much Craftsman quality has declined in the last 10 years. After I purchased this Stanley set 7 years ago, I found myself using my Craftsman tools less and less. The most obvious benefit of this set is the laser-etched labeling on the black chrome finish that provides amazing contrast and awesome legibility. That alone makes this Stanley set far more enjoyable to use than Craftsman sockets. Additional benefits include: - Superior ratcheting mechanism - Superior durability - Superior machining - Superior finish - Superior corrosion resistance - Superior tolerances - Superior in-hand feel Don't be seduced by other tool/socket sets that seem like a better value because they offer more pieces per dollar. Most of those extra pieces are absolutely useless, like dozens of allen keys you'll never use, a dozen nut drivers you'll never use, and junk screwdrivers and wrenches you'll never use because you probably already have nicer wrenches and screwdrivers in a wider range of sizes. I love the no-nonsense approach of this set. You get what you need and none of the "bonus" junk, thus your money is spent on quality, not quantity. As for the case, I've had no problems with it at all. Yes, the pieces can be a bit difficult to get in and out of the case initially, but the case does loosen up over time. IMHO, this is better than the opposite extreme of a case that will not sufficiently prevent the tools from moving around. Due to an inexplicable lapse of reason, I took this Stanley set to my vacation home and left them there, which means I've been forced to dust off my Craftsman set at my primary residence. Reverting back to the lower quality and poor legibility of the Craftsmans over the past year made me realize how much I miss the Stanley set, so much so that I just ordered a second set of these for my primary residence! All in all, this is an awesome set. Match it up with a couple dozen combination wrenches and you'll have what you need to tackle the vast majority of projects. I'll probably donate the Craftsmans and never look back.

I was first worried about paying too much for this socket set. There are similar socket sets for much cheaper. For the price you pay for this socket set you could have one with many more pieces. However, I rather have this socket set than any other. PROS- 1. READABILITY. Man I can not tell you how many sockets I have misplaced, lost, or just got frustrated with and threw away. The tradition steel socket sets are very hard to read. The numbers/labels are small, and some do not even have the size label on the actual socket. The black color with gold letters make the size so easy to recognize. It is so nice to easily see the size and it makes using the sockets were easy. Whenever using multiple sockets, it is now easy to put them back in the case instead of searching for the size as you would with the traditional steel set. 2. STRENGTH. Since this socket set is made of chrome, the power is obviously. I thought I may have just been overly happy because I bought a chrome socket set, but after using steel sockets, then using chrome, it is obviously which ones are stronger. 3. STYLE. It is not frequently you see someone with a black chrome socket set. This is a very good looking tradition style set, which comes in a very nice case. The outside of the case is black. 4. TRANSPORTATION. After receiving the set, I put it in my trunk so I have it with me whenever I need it. The set does not take up a large amount of room, therefore I keep it with me. Usually whenever something goes wrong with my car I need to use a socket. CONS- 1. PRICE. I am guessing anyone who passes on this set does so because of the price. However, if you buy this socket set you will be glad you did because it will be the best one you ever bought. It is definitely better than any tradition steel socket set. I would highly recommend this socket set for anyone looking for one! This would be a great gift for any guy who likes/needs tools. I have used this set for months now, and put them threw plenty of work, but they black finish has never even chipped off one of the sockets.
