Tokyo Story: The Ozu/Noda Screenplay Paperback – 1 September 2003

"Tokyo Story" was ranked #1 by directors in the 2012 Sight and Sound poll of great movies done every 10 years. Go to the Amazon product review of the DVD to learn about it. It is a Roger Ebert Great Movie. The screenplay was translated by Donald Richie and Eric Klestadt with an introduction by Donald Richie, who has written wonderful books of Ozu and Kurosawa. I experience the film as depicting the beautiful serene acceptance of the transience of life through the contemplative, compassionate love of the Eternal Now. A book edited by David Desser of essays on the film makes a very fine companion book.

Tokyo Story, directed by the genius Yasujiro Ozu, is one of my favorite all time movies. Reading the screenplay makes the experience even richer.
