These are the Primary Composition Journals. They are different from the regular primary composition notebooks, because they have the blank area above the lines, where your student can draw a picture of what they're writing about.These are a great quality. It has 100 pages, equal to 200, because the lines, and picture area are on the front and back of each page.I was a little confused when I first started this journey, and wanted to be able to help. In my personal experience, the journal was requested in kindergarten, and the regular composition notebook for 1st grade, and 2nd grade. Both are great. I think it's always nice to have one of each at home, either way. These really help with size, and spatial learning when little one's are first learning to write letter, and words, or even just to get better at what they already know. This journal would be great to have, so you're child can practice keeping their 1st personal journal. Being able to draw or doodle above is an extra incentive to keep them interested, and entertained.These are hard to find in stores, and you never know which style they might have on hand. I would reccomend all options of these Primary notebooks/jounals.

I bought this to encourage my first grader to start writing more and journaling. It is the same format the utilize in school for kindergarten/first graders to begin writing and illustrating their own stories. It hasn't made him magically love writing, but you can only ask so much of a product.

These books are great for early elementary and children learning to write. There is a space above where the child can illustrate his/her stories. The lines help guide them to write letters the correct size for capitals and lower case. For younger children, an adult or older child could write the sentences and the younger child could illustrate so it becomes a paired learning activity. So many wonderful ways to use these for creative writing activities!

My kids (5 year old boy and girl) needed these for kindergarten and I couldn't find them locally so Amazon to the rescue. My kids love being able to draw a picture on the top and then write on the lines on the bottom. They are wide ruled so they are actually writing pretty much in the lines. We had one left over and they recently found it and have been using it every day at home. They like it so much, Santa is going to stuff a set and some gel pens in their stockings this year.

For my son. His in second grade and he love to write on this book it's much easier for him to write in straight line.

This product is great, works as it supposed too. My daughter loves it.
