Q: Will the hand molding just sit on the stand? How does it get attached.. Is it worth it?

Hi Joseph, We include sheets of coarse and fine sandpaper to smooth down the base of the sculpture. This creates a perfectly flat surface so the sculpture rests sturdily on the stand. The weight of the sculpture keeps it firmly in place so it’s not necessary to attach it to the stand, although if you do want to attach it you can use glue. The stand is carefully crafted to be a perfect complement to the sculpture, giving the finished scultpture an elegant and professional appearance that will look great in any interior.

Q: My casting is beautiful, but it is starting to mold, what happened?

It is rare but can happen under just the right circumstances (mold spores are in the air or on the skin, residual alginate left behind acts as food and then there is the head and/or humidity). If dried in natural light and in front of a fan, you should have no issues. For existing issues, use a bleach wash carefully.

Q: How long do you have to keep your hand in the mold before you can take it out and pour the casting stone?

Hi Mary, You will have to keep your hands in the alginate mix for 5-10 minutes. You may take it out as soon as the mixture has become firm and the color has changed to blue.

So special!!

Not done sanding yet, but overall turned out great! One hand had quite a few “bubble bumps” but I think they’ll be easy to sand down. This is such a special gift! I bought it for my grandparents 60th anniversary. Take your time and make sure to read all of the directions. I like that it had a small sample packet to use as practice.
