Is this too big for a 9 year old to carry. Thinking for my daughter but looks huge?

Hi. I bought two of these for my 7 and 10 year old. It’s a little bulky but not too much for a 9 year old. My only issue is one of the two backpacks, a zipper broke pretty quickly. But can still zip it from the one side if that makes sense.

Is the soccer backpack mesh bag made of elastic material?

The side pockets are elastic but not the front pocket where the soccer ball goes. On a side note, we've been through many soccer bags and this one is hands down the best! Very roomy and actually holds everything with room to spare.
