You can try it! You may don't install the tip correctly and push the tip into the pet's throat too hard, causing the throat to jam the tip and drop it. But I think as long as you install the tip correctly, you can prevent the tip from falling and choking. Before you use it, try to test the firmness of the tip. Be patient and you'll use it well. If you really think it's unhelpful, you can return it.
