Fantastic customer service
The seller provided fantastic customer service! I had purchased their gas monitor almost two years ago, and had no problem with it until a week ago, when its alarm went off due to unusually high humidity/rapid temperature change. I emailed the seller about it, and was surprised to hear back from them within a few hours. They said they had upgraded the unit's design to not be triggered by humidity, and sent me a free replacement within a couple days. Wow! I wish more companies had customer service like this, it's really impressive. The new monitor is working fine.

UPDATED please read...The replacement works good! Outstanding customer service.
Final update...I've been using the firmware updated replacement a few months now. It works really well. There was only one instance where I unplugged it to adjust to a significant and fast environment change. It reset and all is good!....,...........They gave a full refund and shipped an updated new replacement! There has been a software update to make it not react to rapid temperature and humidity changes. The replacement has been working perfectly now.The seller responded that the issue is due to temperature and humidity changes which cause the reading to "drift". They have updated the software for this gas detector. They sent an updated model to try. They also gave a full refund without my asking..................Problem Solved! The Techamor y401 gave us false readings every day. The problems began when it was only a few weeks old, I ordered it in January. It read a constant 1-3, on occasion and it went up to 4-5 and triggered the alarm! It would sometimes read a 0, but only on occasion. I moved it to many different locations indoors and out, and had the same result. It was so erratic that I couldn't trust it. I unplugged it and ordered a real Gas leak detector like plumbers use in order to verify what was happening. The new gas detector is handheld and extremely sensitive, detecting as little as 50 parts per million! I took the new gas detector around the house, to every gas appliance (and every drain opening in case methane was coming up through the plumbing). I did this repeatedly over a period of days and it never detected a gas leak!!I tested the hand held gas detector with both propane and natural gas. It reacted correctly and once the alarm sounded and I turned off the gas, the meter showed lowering gas levels until it returned to it's baseline. I detected both gases before I could smell them! It never once provided a false reading. But it's not practical for 24/7 monitoring. Then I plugged the Techamor y401 back in, and compared it to the professional gas detector. The Techamor again showed gas when there was none. It's junk. Had I trusted the Techamor and called the fire department when the alarm sounded, it would have been embarrassing, and scared my condo neighbors! And wasted the Fire Department's resources.Without an accurate and sensitive device to compare, I question so many reviews that say it's accurate! How do so many reviewers have a way of knowing. Yes, it did sound the alarm when I tested it with propane and natural gas. However, it went off several times when there was zero gas in the air. It went off when we used the toaster oven! And when I was washing dishes! How can you trust it to do one thing when it doesn't do the other correctly?I prefer a plug in detector that provides a constant readout in order to detect when a gas burner is inadvertently bumped on! Now, I don't know what to trust! I don't know if this is typical for the Techamor y401, or if it's defective.

Really Works
This really works. I forgot to close the door panel to the water heater in the attic. This detected low carbon monoxide at level 1and sometimes 2. Did a recon of all gas appliances and found that I forgot to close panel door so carbon monoxide was circulating around the house from the attic.

Works!
I bought this detector last year September 2023 after the gas department was changing out our meter and discovered a small hole in the connector to our new oven (October 2023) was giving off a tiny gas leak that we wasn’t aware of nor any smell. Scary to think we were using our stove and oven this whole time. So I got this for safety. Well as of January 26th, 2024 this detector went off with a reading of #4. We called gas company emergency services and they came out right away. To make long story short they found no gas leak. However we sprayed a lot of Lysol in our tiny space of room and that set it off from the chemicals in the Lysol. Crazy to think we are breathing that stuff in our lungs. Gas company tested the Lysol and sprayed it in the air. Their detector reading jumped to #8 that’s high. So safe to say this monitor works and alarm was loud. I could hear it from 3 floors of my house. It happened in our basement. We have a full kitchen in there. So glad this monitor works and so far it’s lasting long. Good to know it picked up a chemical smell. Will update if any future issues. Definitely buying another for our 2 nd floor kitchen.

This thing is dangerous...
So we've had this for about 2 years. And it has gone off once, and when it did I did a search through the whole house looking for gas to be on somewhere because we do have a gas stove and a gas furnace. I even used an industrial grade natural gas detector. Checking all the lines in the basement nothing. So the first time it went off it was a false positive.Tonight we had stove top burner that had been left open for a good 3 hours. You could smell gas all over the house. This detector was less than 10 ft from the stove and did not go off at all.It gives you false positives are inconvenient... But worse as it gives you a false negative which is just downright dangerous.Do not buy this thing it could actually you cost you, your life or your house... It's a horrible detector and should not be sold.

Super important for peace of mind
Long story short, my 80+ year old grandpa lives by himself, and the last time we went to visit him we walked in and were hit full in the face by a very strong gas smell. He seem to not notice, and I would imagine had become a bit desensitized to it, but we found out that his stove had been leaking gas for quite some time. Obviously, we were very concerned Because if he hadn’t noticed it then who knows if he would’ve if it happened again. We decided to order these on the spot to make sure that at the very least he would know if it ever happened again. They came in and he now has them in two different places in his house. Of course I’m sure it brings him a bit of peace of mind, but I think it was even more important to us that he had them. Because we live so far from him, and can’t visit on a regular basis, it’s a small way to make sure he is taken care of in at least this small way. Would absolutely recommend this to anybody who lives alone or is in an older house that maybe doesn’t have great wiring or electrical work./ old gas stoves or pilot lights
