This collection has many good songs. One of the few that does. Well worth the price.
See the section above. Expect to use many of the songs in program for independent living residents.

Excellent Collection
I am an advanced beginner or perhaps intermediate level sax player and found this collection of jazz standards to be outstanding. The key signatures are all manageable and the arrangements I found to be quite tasteful and eminently playable. My only wish is that there would have been a little bit of Gershwin thrown in. Next step for me will be to learn a little bit of improv.

Way to easy for anyone out of the first few years of playing and NO ACCOMPANIMENT MUSIC included.
Good book of basic jazz songs. Way to easy, even for someone getting back into playing after 14 years. All eighth notes and above at the best. This also does NOT include Hal and Leonards play along tracks that all of their books have. The new version of this does, but mine was the old version with no code listed on the first page. Beware if you are looking for something to play along with!

Highly recommended for novice players!
The Best alto book for novices I've gotten. Lots of great classics with great melodies, and the vast majority of songs are in C, G, Bb, or D, which is really great since I haven't learned the key of A yet. I don't play sax, I play alto recorder (F), and you just can't find good songbooks for that, so it's a real plus to be able to get great music I don't have to transpose to a different key. Not all the Leonard books are as great for that as this one, and some are downright intimidating, requiring a lot more skill than I currently have.

Not a bad book of Jazz Standards
Not a bad set of standards. Though I would add that this is not a book that your guitar playing friends will be able to sit with you and play as they chords shown are transposed for Eb instrumentation (e.g. Alto Saxophone), and are not the chords the guitarist would actually play. So if you're looking to buy something you and someone else can play along with you're out of luck. You will need to transpose the chords yourself, the guitarist use a capo, or I guess, buy the equivalent guitar book? I no longer have Prime so the delivery was extremely slow, it took well over a week, as are all my remaining orders with Amazon since I cancelled my prime subscription.

A good collection
I was very pleased with this. Even though I have only been learning the sax for a couple of months I can struggle through some of the pieces fairly well, although usually slowly, and am no longer afraid of some of the key signatures. Altogether a good collection of standards for those of us who are a bit older ( I'm eighty-one ).

A great selection of tunes that are accessible for those wanting to build their confidence and repertoire as a musician.
A good selection of jazz tunes that are familiar to me. I have been playing for 4 years and find many of the arrangements are straight forward for me to play. I am even beginning to sound fluent with some of the songs. I am looking forward to tackling those that are less familiar. I bought this having enjoyed playing tunes from the 101 Broadway Song book. Both have helped to build my confidence in reading music and playing the alto sax.

Great tunes
Great selection of classic American song book tunes. Could be used by someone within a few months of beginning the sax. Suitable for intermediate and difficult levels.
