This is a hard shell cover for your dock. I don’t see it offering any protection, but for aesthetic it’s really nice! Makes my regular Switch dock look like the OLED model, and you can put stickers or whatever on it without ruining anything expensive.

It is a hard cover case, but the colour is way off and is more of an orange then what the pictures showed and it is not opaque so the pattern underneath is visible.
