Great value for money, always use Colgate, tastes great mouth feels completely clean afterwards. Slightly smaller toothpaste, but for the price can’t go wrong.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars There is a limit to how much one can say about toothpaste, but since I have been using this alongside the floss picks reviewed earlier and have started taking my oral hygiene more seriously generally, a few things are worth noting. The mint flavour is the classic Colgate register: familiar, not aggressively strong, and gone from the palate quickly without leaving an unpleasant aftertaste. It sits comfortably between the burning intensity of Listerine and the barely-there mildness of some natural alternatives. Teeth feel clean and smooth immediately after brushing. The inclusion of arginine in the formula is worth flagging for anyone with mild sensitivity. Arginine is a naturally occurring amino acid that some clinical evidence supports as an aid for dentinal hypersensitivity, and it appears here alongside the standard 1450ppm fluoride. I have not noticed a dramatic sensitivity improvement, partly because my sensitivity is mild to begin with, but a few reviewers specifically note buying this for that reason and finding it effective. The 75ml tube is on the smaller side. If you are ordering online rather than picking it up in a supermarket, the four-pack at a lower per-unit cost is the sensible way to buy this; the single tube at £1.79 makes more sense as a convenience purchase or as a travel toothpaste. Nothing here will change your life, and Colgate Total covers more bases if you want gum and antibacterial protection in a single product. But for a straightforward fluoride toothpaste with a clean flavour and a price that does not require a second thought, this is exactly what it needs to be.
