Suitable for every beer snob that you know. They will definitely learn something from this book. So it's great 4 even the biggest beer know-it-all. Also looks great on your coffee table or in amongst your other books on a shelf..

viva la beer revolucion
The amount of attention paid to cocktails, whiskey, wine, and others is a flood compared with the drips and drops of books on beer. Instead, beer enthusiasts depend on festivals, magazines, blogs, beer labels and other random sources to learn about the world of beer. Now, however, we have a new and wonderful resource that will be a companion on my beer journeys, whether they go from the fridge to the couch or across oceans.Beaumont and Webb build on Jackson's classic 35-year-old World Guide to Beer. They cover basics like charting where beer comes from, how it's made, what goes in it, who makes it, and, most interestingly to me, where it's made. Open up the book to a random page or look up a specific term--either way you're going to come out of the book knowing more than when you went in.The scope is broad, yet focused. It succeeds in drawing a clear and detailed portrait of where brewing is around the world today. Maps, pictures, charts and other graphics help keep interest high and get a lot of important information out there. It's amazing to me how clearly the authors document the explosive and ongoing growth that is occurring in beer consumption, creation, and distribution. We can now enjoy more beer varieties from more breweries in more countries than ever. We are truly blessed with beer today, and this book celebrates the craft beer revolution for which I am very, very grateful.

A Magisterial Beer Book
If you are someone of my generation, it is likely that this title has a very strong resonance for you, given that it's even money that the first book you read on beer was Michael Jackson's The New World Guide to Beer, first published in 1977 and updated in 1988. Webb and Beaumont both have impeccable beer writing credentials, which makes them the perfect choice to chronicle the world of beer, 24 years later.Visually, it is a beautiful book, with numerous excellent photos and fine graphics, a perfect conversation starter for your coffee table or bar top. Obviously, given the tremendous area being covered, some things had to be left out and reasonable people can disagree with the choices the authors made in that regard. Still, Webb and Beaumont have produced a truly magisterial work, one which belongs in the library of even the most casual drinker of craft beers.

Great Book for Beer Lovers
I bought this book as a gift for someone for Christmas. Speedy delivery and the book appears to have great history and information about beer. I talked with another person that has the book and he highly recommended it. He said my husband will enjoy the gift. Will update my review after the holidays.

Beautiful
The images are stunning and I actually found myself really getting into reading it before I gave it to my boyfriend for his birthday. He loves it and his friends enjoy taking a peek when they're over. Not many of them really understand the finer arts of beer brewing claiming "It's all just beer". The shipping was fast and the packaging careful.

Pas aussi personnel que le livre de Michael Jackson mais très intéressant pour découvrir comme son nom l'indique tout un panorama de bières aux origines et aux styles bien différents

If you have any interest in beer at all, this outstanding book is an essential addition to your bookshelf.
An exceptional book written by people with a wealth of knowledge and experience, covering every aspect of beer and it's production. The excellent photography and logical layout combined with an easy to read writing style, makes this is an extremely attractive and informative book. It's bang up to date, reflecting the latest trends and burgeoning growth in real ales, craft beers and other brews without being judgemental on their relative merits. As a person who has lived abroad in Germany, the USA and other countries for much of my life, I can heartily recommend this book as the best Global perspective on the ever changing World of beer I have come across. So, if you or a significant other are interested in beer and deserve a treat, (and don't we all?), than buy this book, add a comfy chair, a beer of choice and enjoy!

Informative, entertaining and just plain fascinating
A great read, lots of fabulous pictures, and a great look at beers from around the world. The World Atlas of Beer offers a brief (and fascinating) history of beer, takes you through chapters on each of its ingredients, tells you about the different brewing processes - from micro to macro - and covers the important topics of how to pour, what kind of glass to use, and how to pair foods with your beer. And all this before you are taken on a whirlwind tour around the world to discover the beers unique to each region. With the proliferation of microbreweries worldwide over the last decade, a book such as this cannot hope to cover more than a small percentage of beers available - it can only hit SOME of the highlights for each region - and in that I found it a bit disappointing. I was a little shocked to see that Guinness, Ireland's best known export (and the beer that converted me from mainstream beers) was not even listed. In Ontario, Canada, (my home province) there are 8 beers (all microbrewed) listed, out of hundreds to choose from. And the authors didn't even try to cover the unusual beers from exotic locales like Tibet, Nepal, Samoa, or Uzbekistan, etc. (A great resource for discovering just how many breweries are out there is beerme.com)But even with the limited selection of beers described, it is still a great read and a beautiful coffee table book, and I highly recommend it.
