I used this as a textbook for a Spanish history class, and wow. This book was so enjoyable to read! It didn't feel like assigned reading most of the time. Chasteen did an amazing job of writing the text in a way that is informative, eloquent, and inserts his opinions in a way that doesn't cloud the facts. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to learn about Spanish influence throughout history.

Very readable history. One thing that I liked was describing how events in Europe affected LA history and vice-versa. Very well written.

Great textbook for high school and college classes!

It was exactly the right textbook needed for class. It is, of course, used, though there is nothing terribly wrong with that fact that makes it bothersome. Thankful to be able to rent this particular copy for my semester of LAH.

This helped me with a class I really enjoyed in 20222. New condition was good. Pages worked, cover looked taken care of. Pages smelled good.I like the colored pictures
