generally how long does it take for birds to grow after you plant the seeds

I've never deliberatly planted these seeds, this product is for feeding wild birds and is a very good mix. that said, birds and squirrels being who they are, some seed does get scattered on the ground and does sprout, I've had a few sunflowers come up and bloom, but most is just grassy stuff, I don't think you can plan on a crop

does anyone know the purpose of their adding 'artificial color' to bird seed??!! That red stuff looks horrid. Tx.

I just called Wagner customer service (516-933-6580) and asked whether the Greatest Variety product contains any artificial dyes. The rep said No, that their products do not have artificial dyes. She said that the red is the natural color of that particular seed. The red color is helpful in attracting birds.Update: Well, I received the birdfood and looked at the ingredients. The last ingredient item is "Artificial color."

YES! it has sunflower seed, cracked corn and peanut pieces in addition to TEN other kinds of seed. I use squirrel proof feeders for the birds and seperate feeders for the squirrels with sunflower and peanuts and peanut butter. (which the birds eat too ) ALL of the birds here in central Virginia LOVE this blend and there is no waste.

From the photograph it looks like there is a lot of the red milo in it. Can somebody provide the percent of each seed type that this contains? TYVM

There were more sunflower seeds then red Milo in my bags. I have no idea what percentage of each seed is in the mix. My birds love this stuff! the doves love the sunflower seeds and the finches, orioles and other birds like this mix.
