Give it a try, you'll never want to use a different box
Sooo... I loath the litter box, I mean who likes it? I spent $300 to install an automatic flushing box but it had to be hooked up by a plumber... while waiting on that I did two things 1) switched to a top entry litter box ($15) for my lovely cat who's life mission is to dig her way to China from her box tossing all of the litter out of the box along with waste daily 2) switched from the non-clumping litter to the lightweight clumping litter. Firstly I used to exclusively use the regular clumping litter, but found it to be extremely dusty and honestly really gross it always smelled horrible after use no matter the scooping and weekly changes, and it would travel sooooo far from the litter box because it stuck to the cat. Then I was advised to get the non clumping litter and a smaller box and just dump daily, the dust was less, traveling litter less but this stuff is heavy and still dusty. When the lightweight litter came out I was extremely skeptical having already deal with the other two types of litter. I thought lightweight meant that it would travel more and probably be more dusty, plus it's nearly twice as expensive as the clumping litter.Back to using the top entry litter box with the lightweight litter, while waiting for the other one to be hooked up to the plumbing I figured why not try this setup. And was shocked, if you have a cat that tosses their litter get the top entry box. And if you want truly good clumping litter that won't travel that is very low dust, and locks away any smell so you can scoop for the week and dump at the end of the week this is the litter to use.Out of all the options I like the black top one the best, it smells the least like cat litter to me.I ended up sending back the autoflush cat box.

Great for Multi-Cat Households!
After realizing I was having allergy issues with the natural cat litters I'd been using, I had to go back to the more traditional types. I hated to do it because I was concerned about health issues for my cats and traditional clay cat litter is definitely not as environmentally friendly. But I needed to switch back, and after trying pretty much every kind available, I landed on the Tidy Cats Lightweight variety. The 4-in-1 variety is definitely my favorite. It does have a scent to it, but it's not overwhelming like some other ones. Some types smell like they dumped an entire bottle of old lady perfume in it. Yuck! But this one is not terrible. It also works EXTREMELY well. I have two cats, one of which is a 20 lb Maine Coon with special needs. She often forgets to scratch her "business" under or cover it up. This litter dried and clump up quickly, so it kind of helps her out in that department. And since it works fast, I have found that I use A LOT less litter than before. So, while clay mining is not eco-friendly, that is off set some by the fact that I use less. It's also very easy to scoop out the clumps. They do not fall apart the way some other litters do, which greatly helps to keep the litter box fresher for longer! After spending decades lugging heavy bags and boxes of cat litter, I'm loving the lightweight variety! Not only is easier to carry up the stairs, it's also easier to dispose of! Personally, I'm willing to pay the premium price for it!Overall, this is a great cat litter. It works extremely well and reduces the odor that often comes with having multiple cats without overwhelming the room with grandma's perfume!Highly Recommend!

Easier on the back but not every cat in household will use it.
I like the lightweight but it’s way over scented and too perfumey instead of clean. I have a lot of cats and a lot of boxes so I use a variety litter types as some cats prefer one type to another. Some like it. Some don’t. It doesn’t get used as often as the regular clumping litter but it gets used so I’ll kerp buying it. Happy it’s not the kind most of my cats prefer because it’s far more expensive than their regular weight clumping litter. Not sure why. You’d think they’d be saving money on shipping. I go through approx 10-12 buckets of clumping litter each month and sometimes another 100-150 lbs of non clumping litter, depends on how many fosters I have. Tidy Cat has always been my brand of choice if I can find it on sale, if not I’ll buy the Scoop Away at Costco or the stuff in the green cardboard box at Walmart. I really like the plastic buckets and they never end up the landfill They’re make wonderful storage containers and I have no shortage of teachers wanting for their for classrooms, friends and neighbors using for flower pots, mop buckets, chicken coops, pet food storage, Xmas storage, etc
