Is a great history on the F-14 in Afghanistan

The tomcat, conceived as an air superiority fighter earned its spurs as a true multi-role platform over Afghanistan. It's combination of range, firepower, speed and not to mention the sheer ingenuity and dedication of crew and maintainers alike allowed the big tomcat to excel in a role that it was not really optimized for. These people taught an old cat New tricks and she took well to them. This book is an enjoyable account of the triumphs, tribulations and dedication of all the people involved.

Yet again Osprey have produced a conscise but excellent history cataloging the use of the F-14 units over Irag.Good pictures and profiles. The book also draws heavily on first person accounts from the pilots who flew the missions.Highly recommended.

Great book extremely detailed to my own memories of some of the birds I worked on and with over the years.

Another great book detailing the exploits of the aircraft that the Pentagon thought was getting too old to do the job. A short read of this book, and the other F14 books in the series, will show the old cat doing the job better than anything else supposedly more modern than it. The short-sightedness of Pentagon planners is shown for what it was- pure politics to get rid of the Tomcat and use the dollars for aircraft that were flashy but unproven and would end up costing so much that it makes keeping the Tomcat look like winning the big one in the lottery! A great look at the innovatedness of Navy pilots and techs that made this "old guy" the best plane the Navy ever had, and its ilk will never roar off carrier decks again. A great addition to anyones Tomcat library.

superb accounts from the pov of the pilots and riogreat book that pays homage to the tomcatters involvedin the warthe role here clearly shows that they can tango with thenew strike role and master in itoh yeah and i totally love the markings and illustrations ofall the tomcats involvedas usual great packaging and delivery from amazon
