Pretzel (Curious George) Paperback – Picture Book, August 25, 1997

We bought this book because Pretzel looks just like our dog who passed away. Such a sweet children's book!

This book Is much older & has been very well taken care of. This is the Story of Pretzel Written By Margret Rey. This book is missing the outer coverlet that goes over the hard cover. On the inside someone had wrote a first name. Other than those 2 minor things this book is perfect. I am truly amazed at the condition. This book was requested by my son and I purchased it & the stuffed animal Pretzel for him as well. This is a very cute little story of a dachshund in love with another dachshund from across the street. The illustrations in this book are illustrated by H. A. Rey & are all perfect. I love books. When I can find gently used books in great condition I buy them as they have alot of life and enjoyment left in them. The story is cute but it is cheaply made.

I was so excited to find this book available for purchase. This was my favorite book as a child, and I loved books! I've never known anyone who ever heard of this book. I have always referred to dachshunds as pretzel dogs, and nobody would understand why. So now I'm about to be a grandma, and I'm buying it for the baby & for me; one copy for each of us. I hope he and his parents enjoy it as much as I always did. Coincidentally, they have a dachshund. I love this book!Update 1-25-19: I bought this book again. It's for my soon to be born granddaughter for her mom's baby shower this weekend. I decided to look at the reviews and was surprised at all the negative ones. I guess it's about perspective. While some people think it's creepy & stalker-ish, I've always thought of it as a good example of how not to judge someone by their looks. Greta initially judges Pretzel by his looks and rejects him. But then when he saves her life she realizes he's a good guy and she shouldn't have been so judgmental about his looks. That's the message I got when I had this book as a child and it's still the message I see in it. It's sad that others don't see the same message.

This book was a favorite of mine when I was little and I am glad that I get to share it with my little one.Pretzel is a dachshund who takes pride that he is different from everyone else. He has won blue ribbons for being the best dog, but he can not win over his love Greta. She doesn't like long dogs. He tries to win over her affections but still she refuses him. It's not until she falls into a deep hole and Pretzel rescues her that she decides to marry him. This is a charming story that has many good points to it, you should accept that you can be different from everyone else. Pretzel didn't look at his situation and pout but took it in stride and won blue ribbons. He also didn't hold a grudge against Greta and still helped her out when she was in trouble. There are many ways you can look at this story and see teachable moments for your little one.

Enjoyed reading this with my great grandson.

I loved this book growing up . What kid doesn’t love dogs ? Pretzel has a wonderful lesson for kids and great illustrations.

I loved this story when I first read it over forty years ago, it's one of my first memories. it was twenty years later that I got my first dachshund, I now have four, last year I had my first litter, one day in January five little dachshunds were born. I think it is fair to say that this story left its mark on me for which I will be forever grateful.Jo from Shropshire

This is a great story portraying the meaning of true love. It demonstrates how everyone is valuable and that we should judge people by their attributes not their physical appearance. This was my favourite childhood picture book.

Preferred the original book with matt cover but the story remains excellent.

My grandson loves our little miniature dachshund and will be so excited to receive this from his Nana and Papa at Christmas.
