Idea is good but bad design
I had high hopes for this coat... but was sorely disappointed. I got a medium as I have a border collie who is quite tall but skinny. I had to put the straps on the minimum they would go (but I think a small coat would have hardly cover his body). The lights are good and bright but they aren't on his sides so were shining in my face. Quite blinding! The lights should be nearer the bottom hem. Also the battery pack is off centre so the coat kept slipping to one side which he and I found bloody annoying! I think it needed hind leg straps but even then I think it would still slip. I would NOT recommend this coat.

It's a vest with lights on, but not designed well in my opinion
There is nothing inherently wrong with this vest. It's a vest with led lights on it and it straps to your dog.However, in use, the bright white led lights are a bad choice I think. They are way too near the top of the best which basically means they point upwards right into your eyes.If you walk your dog in pretty much pitch black mornings, you'll be unable to see anything else!The lights should be along the hem so that they are horizontal to the ground, and actually I think a coloured led would work better here. Not so blinding.I walk the dog on my bike and normally I like to keep my lights very minimal and let my eyes adjust to the low light. No chance with these lights. The only way to see is to out-gun them by turning my bike lights to full beam.So the vest does what it says it does in that you can see your dog well. Just don't expect to be able to see anything BUT your dog!I'm going to get rid and find one with coloured lights.

FANTASTIC - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - comes up big though!
A friend told me about this so was extremely eager to give it a try - you can't beat a friend's referral.She told me - it comes up big...As you can see from one of the photos, I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - he is particularly large for his breed. I went ahead and ordered the medium - as the last time I ordered a medium harness for him it was too small. It is too big but I get around it by putting his harness over it - this isn't even a negative as I could have sent it back for a refund and ordered the small.The vest itself is extremely bright orange - and as you can see from the photos the lights are amazingly bright. The fact that they are rechargeable via a USB cable (supplied) makes it even more amazing. You can have the lights on or flashing - you can see it from quite a distance.My dog loves it - thinks he's very smart in it and since I live in a rather remote place I can see him really well whilst he is off the lead.Highly Recommended!

Glow in the dark dog!
We used to have a black dog. Swore I'd never have another black dog after "losing" him in the dark so often. Eventually, he passed, and we got another dog. He's black and as a young dog is full of chaos. I keep losing him in the dark on winter walkies. So we got this.As a large (40kg) black lab, we went for the XL size, and it's a bit long on him, but it fits nicely other than that.The LED lights are so bright they dazzle me when I look at him, but when he's chasing through the bushes in the dark, we can see where he is. The reflective stripes work well and as it's water proof and we're in the UK in winter, it's kept his back dry. Shame about all the mud splashing up his belly!Very easy to get it on him as there's a couple of strong clips to do on straps, so don't have to put anything over his head, which is a major plus!The battery pack comes off the jacket to charge, so I think it's probably safe to wash the rest of it as it's getting pretty muddy lately...

Can't fault this jacket
Absolutely brilliant. We cannot believe how long the tiny battery lasts - had eight full hours out of the first charge (even then it was still working but not just quite so bright). Seems to be really comfy for our border collie (Bart) as he is very happy to have it put on. All our neighbours have been asking where we got it from. Delicate little wire / connection from battery to jacket, so I guess you have to be gentle when handling the actual wires, but once in place in the wee velcro pocket, its good to run through the roughest hill ground without damage (thus far anyway). From initial observations / experience we have no doubt about highly recommending this great dog jacket. Makes your dog really stand out on poor weather winter dark nights. And Bart appears to enjoy seeing where he is going on a dark night from the light the jacket emits. Thanks Illumiseen, top marks.
