Whats the difference between the free stuff and the premium??

As far as I can tell, you get an alert when a tile goes out of range, you get replacement batteries and also insurance for lost items. Now this could work out as a poor investment. The bluetooth could be out of range quite regularly due to thick walls in homes and walking around your workplace Button cell batteries are really, really cheap to buy anyway The loss insurance is only valid in the USA

Only really if you are in heating distance of the beeping tile! If they walk out the house it will show the general location. I think for that application there are better suited products on the market. It is good when I leave my keys somewhere in the house.

how many tags can you run on just one phone?

Hi, Android phones are able track 4 tiles. you can pair unlimited but, track only four at a time. Sorry don't know for an Apple Phone. Hope this helps? Thanks

does this work without subscription?

Yes - you can find your item without subscription - you just set it up quick and easy then press find - it will make the tile play a sound and you can see on your phone in the app via blue tooth if it is close by via the depth if the green rings - I haven't lost anything to try via the tile link with other tiles - hope this helps
