What happens if I replace 2.5 volt with these 3.5 volt bulbs?

The 3.5 v bulbs will probably not brighten to their full capacity. Each full string of lights carries 120 volts and can light 50 2.5 volt bulbs (50 x 2.5 = approx.120 volts). A 100-bulb string is actually two 50-bulb strings. 3.5 volt bulbs would typically be used in 35-bulb strings. Their filaments require a full 3.5 volts to glow their brightest. So their brightness might be diminished but still okay to use. The overwhelming variety of minilight strings use 2.5 volts.

How long is the glass? I am looking for bulbs with the glass just over one inch long.

I measured my 3.5 V bulbs. The glass bulb from the end where the wires enter to the point at the other end is 15/16 inch...just under 1 inch.

The tag on my cord says 4v. Will these 3.5v work? I can’t seem to find 4v.

It should work. It will be a little less bright than your other 4v lights
