The Bible Smuggler

This was a great addition to our school studies of the Reformation. The story features an earnest young boy and we figure out alongside him who is friend and who is foe. You get a real sense of the danger and of the importance of breaking the law for a noble cause. The story is told at a brisk pace and makes for a good read aloud. The kindle version has quite a few typos but is otherwise a useful format to use in the schoolroom.

"The Bible Smuggler" is a biography about William Tyndale and his work translating the Bible from Latin to English. It is written for ages 9 and up. The story is told from the perspective of Tyndale’s young assistant, Colin and carries the reader emotionally as the young boy grows in his respect and admiration for Tyndale. Although the reader may already know the outcome of William Tyndale’s story, it can still has a powerful impact. (When I finished the book there were a few tears in my eyes). Ours is a better world for people such as William Tyndale.One of the many reasons I think "The Bible Smuggler" is a great read is that while it was written in the late 1960's, it remains relevant. People still fear what they don’t know, dislike and even fear change (for the most part), those who are in control like to maintain control and more importantly, we never know how long we will continue to have the freedoms we have today.

This was a great book that I learned a lot from. I bought this book for my son and thought I would take a look at it before he read it - just to make sure it was appropriate for his age etc. It [...]me in and a few hours later I was done with it. Of course that perked up his interest and he wants to read it. A good book that even keeps an adult interested. I would and will highly reccommend to others.

I love this book!!! At the end of every chapter it left me at a cliff hanger wanting to read more!!! I did find typos in it, which I'm not sure how that happened... ;) but over all it was amazing!!!!

The Bible Smuggler was assigned reading for a book report for my 6th grader. I think I enjoyed it as much as he did.

Loved reading this to my kids! Great story with solid historical truth and exciting adventure. The story comes alive and is a very easy read.

Interesting read

A fun historical fiction read. My kids enjoyed it and sparked many fun questions.
