Remember those spool knitters from your childhood? Here’s a wonderful example of “a better mousetrap,” because this little contraption is the best-engineered spool knitter that I’ve ever seen! It’s super easy, fast, and convenient to use. I make straps for crocheted purses, etc. with it, but I’ve bought additional ones for grandchildren too, and they all love it!

You just can't go wrong with the quality of Clover craft products. This did not disappoint! I do wish they had more sizes for different projects.

I bought this for my 4 year old who has been begging me to teach her to knit. I knew she wasn't ready for needles and hoped this would be simple enough for her to do - and it is! I showed her how to loop it once and then she was going solo. She was pretty good after about 30 minutes and it's been keeping her busy for hours. She's using rainbow yarn, which works well because she can easily track her progress with the different color stripes which she finds rewarding.It's very well designed. I've used traditional spool knitters with crochet hooks and this is far better. The prongs have grooves to make getting the hook under the loop easier. The hook itself is comfortable and has just the right bend. While I still like to hold the yarn for proper tension, the holder works surprisingly well and gives learners one less thing to think about. The rotating prong hoops are similarly unnecessary but convenient. I'd recommend it for an experienced adult, too.Our prong hoops are pink and yellow, the hook is green, and the base is clear plastic with silver glitter. So not exactly like the photo, if you care.

I had to order a second one. A friend’s daughter cried so hard to have mine after using it all one afternoon, I couldn’t say no!This makes a quick easy i-cord of two different thicknesses. It’s pretty much foolproof. It works with all sorts of yarn, ribbon, and even thin craft wire and beads for jewelry making if you’re patient. I use it mainly to make drawstring type handles for crocheted purses. If you’re into crafting, this should be in your crafting stash for sure.

I had a wooden spool knitter when I was a child. This product was fun. However it lacked instruction on applying beads as indicated on the description. Makes a very nice braided chain and flowers. I found a blog that had wonderful adaptations for making flowers and animals. Would be good to get a little girl started on knitting creative easy projects. Goes fast and not that difficult once you get the hang of doing it.K

I tried another, fancier one from another brand, but it had the latch hook style and the latches didn't properly open and close. So I tried again, with the Clover one. I thought it was going to be the same style, but it wasn't. It's more similar to a loom knitter in the round. It's less "automated" but it works exactly like it's supposed to and it's easy to use. I will say that any icord maker is going to be kind of a one trick pony, but that isn't a problem, for the price. It does its job, and does it well.The only problem I have with it is that the hook doesn't stay in its place when not in use, so it keeps falling out and I have to keep looking for it. In addition to fixing that issue, I do wish it had a third, smaller disc for working with crochet string or twine.

This is really a great knitting spool. I needed a larger cord than the 4 peg knitters and the yellow 6 pin topper using double strands of LB Fishermen's Wool does just that.Whoever designed this did an amazing job! The top really does spin and there are perfectly placed indents for your thumb to hold the top in place to hook over your stitch. What I was happy (and surprised) to see were "grooved" plastic pins just like the ones on KB looms to guide your pick! I'm using an actual metal loom hook instead of the plastic one from Clover but that's a personal choice, and Clover has provided a plastic hook. There is also a "yarn tension" that works, saving my forefinger from unnecessary elevation, lol. Very happy with my purchase.... give it a chance if you're on the fence about buying it.

My stepdaughter had one of these when she was 8-12 and she loved it. I just ordered another for my 9-year-old and she lovedsit as well. It has a simple design, it's durable, and it's easy to use.
