Great camera
The 7D is well reviewed camera and it has all the features for bird photography, great for telephoto and fast action birds in flight. Has worked great now for over a year now. Access to modes for focus, iso, metering are awesome.

DO NOT BUY...Inferior to older 7D...
updating on 3Jun2018: and even lowering my rating. This camera is lame. I finally contacted Canon but doubt I will get satisfactory help... (will report) I have never EVER has so many fuzzy pics, even in auto for a 15' shot of 2 people: there is not 1 area that isn't out of focus - iPhone is way better... GPS? many pics aren't even tagged...Now I'm thinking of getting rid of this lemon and either getting an old 7D or just getting rid of all my canon gear I upgraded from the 7D to M2. Pic. quality is way inferior. focusing depth is poor. Many of my pictures used to be crisp. Could get focus on people but cannot even get a group of 5 all in focus. GPS? ya it keeps sucking the battery but many many pics aren't tagged - works better on an iPhone.... Night pics? the old 7D used to take great night pics this one won't trigger.... same lenses...

Fast & sharp !
If you need speed, get one ! It is fast and with its crop-sensor it gives some extra length with any fast lens. It is a great sport/action and very robust camera and I use it in combo with my EF-L 70-200 F2.8 II IS and the EF-L 100-400. Fast and sharp ! Only built-in Wifi is missing (but you can't the Canon Wifi SD card transmitter.....better than nothing).

Great camera. Some things are a little different transitioning from the prior 7D to this newer model. Worked great for for an indoor cheerleading competition in low light.

Really have enjoyed upgrading from my 50d
Really have enjoyed upgrading from my 50d. The additional focus points and 10 FPS have made my sports and bird shots allot better. There is some learning curve for intermediate photographers but it has been a great choice so far.

Excellent
Using on a food blog with low f stop fixed lenses. It’s bloody amazing. Remember you need the larger memory card to run the wifi.
