We like it for our kitchen sink.

So I cut this guy open as I moved up to replace it with the advanced level filtration filter. It's nice to see my money is going to at the least a 2 stage filter! The top portion in the first picture was as it came out (roughly 6-8 months of city water filtering).The water coming out of this thing was nasty when cut open. There is also a GOOD amount of charcoal in this thing. The second picture was after I rinsed off the filter for 15 seconds. That's how much sediment was built up in this thing!If you can get these at 14$ each, they are a steal. The advanced was 30$ so I'll see how I like it in the next few months.

I have used for years both the standard and the advanced. It works as advertised.To the reviewers who make claims of fault, may I submitI have had a unit way past the gallons advertised, and I have had no such drop in pressure vs. a new unit. In fact it is quite amazing the water pressure it provides,and it does a fantastic job of removing bad taste I had due to plastic plumbing.Further, the unit has worked flawlessly without any leaks. It is unfortunate a user had a failure, but it is likely they overtightened the plastic connector. May I suggest anyone adding any unit to add a water monitor/alarm, which are available on Amazon, or look into smartthings for automated alerts.For the customer who complained the TDS(Total dissolved solids) meter that this unit is not a reverse osmosis unit which is one of the few solutions that remove all impurities. Few filters can acheive this, and you would not want this for drinking /cooking water anyway. Pure water tastes awful!I suspect some of these reviews may be from competitors, but who am I to say?

This item arrived in the opened original box, and there wasn't a green sign to show the time of using the filter.

I have to say that the Filtrete's filter as well as their Filtrete water filter system was a very good and economical solution to some of the worst tasting water you can find in Houston Texas. Even my cats didn't like to drink that water and we put up with it for about two years, (I lived down here since 1979 but it seems my most recent residence regularly over chlorinate's their water).The instant that I installed the Filtrete water filter system, (very easy to do), the water took on a whole new and better taste by far! I definitely recommend this filter without hesitation. Easy to replace, (just push up and twist), and you're good to go.I haven't tried their more expensive version which is supposed to filter out many other things that this filter cannot, but I can say that this one does very well and for the price, (always look for a coupon), is likely to be the one I stick with.I didn't give it five stars because even though the instructions say that the filter is good for about six months, I found that I had to change it out after about four months. That could be because of the incredible amount of calcium that our water has and you may get different results if your water isn't as calcified.At any rate, this is a great filter and I will continue to buy these and strongly recommend anyone else who needs to improve the taste of their water to get one as well.

I had been using filtrete filters for years - probably about 5 years now. Always used the advanced ones but lately the advanced ones seem to clog up really quickly in a matter of a month and a half vs before when they would clog up around 4-5 months. I don't think the water has changed that much. So I decided to try the standard filter instead of the advanced, and you know what? The water tastes the same (clean!), and there's no issue with the filter clogging up and the flow rate slows just minimally! There must be something in the design of the advanced filters that cause it to clog up so fast. I now exclusively use the standard filters and have had no issues whatsoever! They are a bit shorter and fatter than the advanced ones, but last much much longer and still gives you great tasting water!

I know these filters aren't as good as a reverse osmosis system, but for the money, it is definitely worth it. We've had ours installed for 2 years now, and have used this replacement filter every 6ish months. It's super easy to change the filter and lasts a long time, just put a towel under the filter, twist the old one off, and twist the new one on - it really is that easy, no tools needed. It's also much cheaper and cleaner looking than having a Brita system on your faucet. I'm quite happy with it; it definitely makes our city water taste better, fresh and without the chlorine and metallic taste that I had before using the filter. I've recommended it to a lot of friends who like us, don't have the money to install a reverse osmosis system.

I don't think its recyclableWe have city water that isn't terrible but often has some sediment in it. My wife can says there is a taste to it as well. I purchase the kit for Christmas two years ago and installed it under the kitchen sink. Now I just buy this replacement filter every 6-8 months and it solves those problems with our city water. I didn't realized when I bought it that that entire plastic filter casing wasn't very eco friendly - I typically just throw it away when I install the next one. I also think its expensive to purchase a replacement twice a year, but worth it.

I have been using Filtrete by 3M for 4-5 years and I would recommend them.Certifications:Standard Filter - Sediment : NSF 42 - Chlorine, Taste, Odor, Particulates 5 micronAdvanced Filter - Carbon Block : NSF 42, NSF 53 - ads Cryptosporidium, lead, volotile organic chemicals (VOC), asbestos, 0.05 micronMaximum Filter - Carbon Block : NSF 42, NSF 53 - longer than advanced for even better filtrationPositives:-Filters seem to last the full 6 months if not longer, especially standard size-Installation is easy as long as you careful and follow the instructions. Make sure you do not flood your kitchen, I almost did.Negatives:-No NSF 401 certification for Herbicides, pesticides and pharmaceuticals - it doesn't mean that advanced / max filters do not filter these, but there is no certification-No information on 3M site about what is inside the filters, is it coconut shell carbon, or something else.-Standard has the best water flow, but while advanced is still acceptable for my use, one maximum filter that i tried I couldn't use due to low water pressure. However, it if you take a look at pictures I uploaded this latest Advanced filters promises 50% better water flow compared to previous versions of the same filter.

Delivery was fast and this filter really makes our poor quality water taste better. I wish it lasted a little longer for the price though so I will probably switch to a whole house filter system soon.

Replacement filter easy to install and was delivered beyond expectation. This has been a good filter system for us we have had for over 7 years..

I had ordered this filter in the past, and it works great -- water flow is uneffected. I installed it in my new house as well, stick to the regular standard filter and you will be pleased with the water flow.

It's a great filter at a great price.we have well water and this completely takes all the iron taste from the water.when you change the filter you can see the in flow is stained red and the outflow is clean.
