This lighter is a beautiful replica of Zippo's 1935 design, complete with period-correct art deco graphics on the box. But that's what it is - a replica. If I were a collector of lighters, I wouldn't expect this to increase in value over the years, even if unused in original box. However, especially compared to Zippo's current models, this lighter looks like a piece of jewelry. It' so nice, I almost didn't want to use it. But I am using it, and I find myself treating it with much greater care than my other run-of-the-mill Zippos. The hinge is completely external, which gives the lighter a rugged appearance. The sides are brushed chrome, and the four flat thinner edges are flawless, high polish chrome. This model has slashes on the sides, which gives it a dressy appearance. Also available without slashes, which gives it a more industrial look. The hinge is a three-bar design rather than five as on current designs, which may or may not last longer than current models. I recommend applying a Teflon lube to the hinge occasionally if the lighter sees daily use. The flat edges and square corners may put off some who use the lighter rather than just displaying it, because those features make one-handed opening and closing very difficult...compared to the more modern designs with rounded corners. The thumb slips off the lighter's sharp corner before the lid opens. I've been using Zippos daily since 1968, and this is the only one with which I felt the need to use both hands for opening. That's not a deal breaker for me, but I thought I'd mention it. If you're into performing "Zippo Tricks," this lighter will not work for you.

I really wasn't expecting much only bought it because it was really cheap on sale. Felt very weird and thin cheaper feeling compared to a regular zippo. But I just fell in love with this lighter overtime grew on me a lot and love the design. If I lost it I wouldn't mind paying non sale price to get another

THIS IS A VINTAGE 1935 REPLICA LIGHTER - JUST LIKE ONE MADE BACK THEN. THE FINISH IS BRILLIANT! CLASSIC BLACK ICE. I BOUGHT THIS BECAUSE I LIKED THE IDEA OF AN EXTERIOR HINGE. THE SLASHES ALSO LOOK GOOD AND ADD CHARECTER TO THE DESIGN. IT HAS A DIFFERENT INSERT (TRADITIONAL) SO A MODERN ZIPPO INSERT WILL NOT FIT. BUT THAT'S OKAY. THE ONLY CON - THE SHARP EDGED RECTANGULAR DESIGN. THE EDGES ARE TOO SHARP FOR ME AND THEY ACTUALLY HURT WHEN IN A TIGHT JEANS POCKET. ALSO IT CAN EASILY SCRATCH AND TEAR A LEATHER WALLET. -1 STAR FOR THAT. APART FROM THAT, A PERFECT ZIPPO FOR A COLLECTION. LOOKS LIMITED SO GET ONE BEFORE THEY STOP REPRODUCING THEM!

I’m new to Zippos and this is everything I expected. I urge you, if you’re new, to do some YouTube searching on setting up and filling your lighter. You will be happy with this. The design is nice. I like the weight. You can adjust flame height by manipulating the wick. Nice job, Zippo.

I got the 1935 replica to carry without worrying about scratches because the pictures made it seem rather brushed but as i opened the box this sparkling lighter was waitin for me. Very pretty and super easy to use i got more than i thought i was getting. Also it never misses a strike. Maybe 1 in 20 or 25 won't light but this thing LOVES lighting my herbal smokes.

Dixième Zippo acheté sur Amazon, celui-ci a été acheté auprès du vendeur " Magasin de Plein Air " que je recommande. C'est LE Zippo standard en laiton chromé, finition entièrement polie, ici dans sa version 1935, dont Zippo a fait une réplique exacte, donc une superbe qualité de fabrication et pratiquement indestructible. Ici, c'est la version décorée par quatre tirets obliques ( Slashes ) de chaque coté du briquet. Les différences avec les Zippo modernes sont : 1 / Couvercle moins haut et plat, non bombé. 2 / Fond plat. 3 / Fixations de charnière de couvercle apparentes à l'extérieur du boîtier. 4 / Axe de charnière en trois parties au lieu de cinq parties. 5 / Axe de la roulette de pierre évidé et non plein. Bien entendu, le module essence de ce Zippo 1935 est parfaitement compatible avec les modèles 1941 et modernes. Ce Zippo est vendu à un prix très intéressant par rapport au prix marché moyen constaté ( Street price ), frais de port compris. Livré très rapidement dans sa boîte de présentation Zippo dont le couvercle carton est une réplique en relief de la boîte de 1935 avec " Windy / Venteuse ", la jeune femme qui allume une cigarette en plein vent et qui est la mascotte de la marque. Briquet Zippo fourni avec documentation en plusieurs langues dont le français et fabriqué à Bradford, Pennsylvanie - USA en janvier 2014. Marquage " A 14 " sous le briquet. Référence Zippo : " 1935 REPLICA W/SLASHES ". Poids 55 grammes. Garanti à vie. Satisfaction totale pour cet achat.

As always, the Amazon experience was Amazing! :) The lighter was an authentic one, and was delivered within a day. It was a completely sealed pack and the quality of material being used to craft the original Zippo's reflected well in the build of the lighter. This classic replica is definitely worth a collection!

Je collectionne les zippo depuis 40 ans, mon plus ancien est de 1963 et mon plus récent est celui-ci. C'est un briquet qui reproduit bien le look du 1935 d'époque, il pèse le meme poid que les autres zippo modernes standards ou replica. Mais celui-ci à un grand jeu dans la charniere, le capot bouge donc fortement, il est cependant facile d'y remédier comme sur n'importe quel autre modèle ayant prit du jeu, il suffit de verser sur la charniere quand le briquet est ouvert, donc par l'intérieur, deux goutes de super glue puis sans attendre qu'elle seche ouvrir et fermer le capot jusqu'a ce que la colle soit sêche (quelques secondes), cela ne bloquera pas la charniere mais remplira les vides entre l'axe de la charnière et les cylindres (3, 4, ou 5 selon les modèles) A part ce defaut, ce briquet est joli, agréable a utiliser, mais ne faites pas de trick avec ce modèle, la charnière n'y résisterait pas longtemps. Soyez aussi très prudent avec les zippo d'avant 1980/1985 car les mêches sont en amiantes, changez les selon les procédures classiques de manipulation de l'amiante (en gros enlever mêche et coton contaminés dans un sac plastic transparent rempli d'eau et plongez y le briquet, une fois enlever, rincez bien le briquet sous l'eau courrante et portez un masque et des gants)
