Old Time Hymnal
I bought this as a gift for my mother. She loves it and sings along with the TV church programing. It reminds her of when she was a little girl. (she was born the 1930s). She is constantly humming many of the tunes and now she has the word to go with them!

A terrific hymnal
This totally met my expectations. The book was in great condition, looked brand new. Has inspired me to want to sing praises every day. So glad I can learn the lyrics now.

Good product, good service
I needed a song that was supposed to be in this book. I ordered the book, and the song was there. The book looks new and is all there, but some pages were crinkled in the corner--not a big issue, but not perfect either. I would do business with these folks again.

Some pros and cons to consider...
If you are here, you are considering purchasing hymn books for your church. Maybe you are looking to upgrade, but maybe you are a new church plant and are searching for the best option. This review is for the 2012 Edition put out by Striving Together Publications.First, let's look at the pros:1. Binding - This is a great feature of the hymn book. Most pages can lay on a flat table and they won't move. In addition, the binding is strong and we have not had problems in the 9 months of constant use. As a musician, I hated having to "stretch" a book in order to get it to stay open, but many times with other hymns this had to be done. On occasion, I have to lay another book on one side to keep it open, but that is understandable when you realize that this book contains 887 songs.2. Song selection - Many choruses and songs are included in this hymn book. You won't run out of any songs anytime soon. There are many songs I never heard of so if you like teaching your congregation new songs then this will certainly keep you busy.3. Orchestration options - This might not pertain to some, but at least you know the option is there. If you have an orchestra, then they have all the material needed for multiple instruments to implement the hymnbook in its full potential.Cons:1. Print on book cover - awful! I own a lot of hymn books. "Soul stirring songs and hymns" has not faded in years and years of use. The print on this hymn book has already faded with some words not even legible. This is across the board of all the books I have seen. This needs to be fixed. For something "new" it looks terrible.2. Pages - The page quality is not that great when you compare it to: (a) Soul-Stirring songs which is a thicker page; (b) Songs and Hymns of Revival (North Valley) which is more glossy and nice to the touch...real nice quality; (c) The Hymnal for Celebration and Worship (Word) which is another one with more of a glossy, strong feel but not as much as North Valley. The paper here almost feels as flimsy as newspaper (not really that bad, but I'm trying to give you a visual).3. Missing songs - For all the songs in this hymn book, it doesn't have such songs as "Come and Dine" and "Come Unto Me." A little disappointing in that regard.I feel if these 3 things were resolved then it would take it to a whole new level. Hope this helps with your decision making.
