Aprilaire - 201 A4 201 Replacement Filter for Whole House Air Purifier Models: 2200, 2250, Space Gard 2200, MERV 10 (Pack of 4)

You're giving up a lot to avoid using those pleat-spacer combs. Part of this is apparently since this filter is designed this to go into several Space-Gard models, and for it to be simple to change out, once you get the new metal frame installed. Those of us with the 201 size (model 2200) take the biggest hit in capacity:Depth of pleats for this filter = 4" vs. 6" for the style that uses the combs. That's 67% of the filter area.The no. of pleats here = 20 vs. 38, which is another 53% reduction in the filter area. That puts us at 35% of the area, 35% of the capacity.So, if you were going 6 months between changes before, expect just 9 weeks with this "upgrade".Also, MERV 13 here vs 10 – takes out smaller particles, which you may want. But depending on your air, you may have to change this filter much more often than every 9 weeks, even. I saw no mention of this in the description or installation instructions. Too big a loss for me; I'm staying with the combs.

I have bought replacement filters from Amazon before and have been very satisfied. I did not receive an actual Aprilaire filter. It was generic. Not as nice as an actual one though. In fact I purchased one pack expecting one filter but received two filters. I had thought they sent two so that I wouldn't complain but after reading the listing again, I was supposed to receive two. The package arrived damaged. Then I saw they were generic and immediately went to see if it would fit in my furnace. It did. I think I can make the other damaged filter work. I didn't think it was worth complaining. I will be more careful when I buy replacement filters though in the future. I feel this product was falsely advertised. NOT an OFFICIAL APRILAIRE product.

Have been buying these filters from amazon for around 3 years, not sure what happened but there has been a noticeable quality drop in these filters. One would last me a good half year at least, but these are getting too soiled for use within a month or two. My cleaning hasn't changed, and the amount of dust is the same.Unsure if the early dirt means it's working better or worse to be honest, but it definitely feels like these aren't real or they changed something in the quality.

Be aware, the filter paper fiber makeup has changed apparently. The old paper had what appeared to be fiberglass strands embedded in it where as the new does not. This causes the new paper to tear much more easily.I've changed about 7 of these filters over the past 5 years. My method was to put the new filter in and start the plastic separator tines near the center. Once I got that one evenly placed, I would take the others, place them next to the middle one and then slide them into position toward either end. This time, however, the sliding caused the plastic to tear the paper at the fold. And I punched a hole in the paper with the point of the plastic finger.Maybe this paper is a better filter, I don't know for sure. Just saying take extra care not to damage the new filter as the paper element is not as robust as the previous ones.PS, In the photos above, the first is the new paper. The second is from an old filter I just removed. These may have been ordered as long as 3 or 4 years ago now. Hopefully you can see the lighter strands that appear to be fiberglass.

This filter is the correct replacement filter for an AprilAire 201 house air purifier system. It installs perfectly in the air conditioning unit. So, this filter is great for that, and if you need one, it works perfect.My issue is the design of the overall system, and how you install the filter. The accordion design is a bizarre design. Pair that with the long, forked plastic spacers you have to make line up with each fold of the filter, and you have a recipe for annoyed. It takes a few minutes to get each fold lined up with each fork, and if you find you accidentally missed one (which happened at least 4 times), you have to redo everything from that point on. It's a process, and not a fun one.I understand they've created a "upgrade" for the filter holder, so I may end up purchasing that. But, for now....the filter works fine.

BEWARE! When I ordered the "201 MERV 11 2-Pack Replacement Air Cleaner Filter Media for Aprilaire 201 Space-Gard 2200", the listing showed the product was from Aprilaire. The filter I received is from BestAir, a product of RPS Products, Inc. It also indicated it was a 2-Pack. I received only 1 filter.

My fathers unit had a 201 filter that needed to be separated manually with these hair pick looking devices. Very hard and time consuming to replace. This kit came with the frame to hold the filter which slides into the track on the unit with ease. The filter that it holds is a 213. It comes with the filter condensed but when opened it is all separated. No hair pick devices needed and slid right unto the upgrade kit. Now that I have the upgrade kit for him, in the future only have to order the replacement filter 213. This made my life so much easier. next time you need a replacement for your 2200 unit get it, don't think twice

Looks identical to the filter I was replacing. About 10 minutes to install, as removing the plastic fins that keep the pleats separated is a bit tricky. They require a bit of force, but are made of thin plastic so you don't want to risk breaking them. Am not a fan of the design of this filter, as it takes more effort to replace than ones that you just slide in and out, and because you can't find it in hardware stores, But am told it is a good design as it forces the air through more of the filter. Not convinced this is the case for my filter, but since I haven't found a substitute this product will do for now.

My last purchase was in 2018. The product packaging looked study and good. This time, the product packaging looked outdated (kind of like more than a decade ago?) and very cheap. The filter itself looks and feels more or less the same. At least I cannot tell the difference.

Excellent product really well constructed of quality materials, If you have the old type filter with the black comb separators this upgrade is a must. Makes changing out filters a must. I like to keep an extra one on hand just incasethere is a supply issue.

Very easy installation, the new model of filter does not require any of the complexity of the older model, just hook the collapsible filter on each end and slide inside the housing.Fast and clean!

This air filter is the one especially required for our furnace. The two pack we received is perfect. These are the real deal. Very pleased with this purchase.
