My first real yoga mat
My other yoga mat was one that I had been using for several years and had been part of a beginning yoga kit. It had started to show wear and tear, so after reading reviews, I decided to try the Aurorae yoga mat. I LOVE it! It is very thick and well cushioned. I was hesitant to order it because of the price, but after using it, I think that the mat was worth every penny. I ordered it in the Seamist. Very pretty and soothing light green. The mat doesn't have any odor. I do like the icon at the top of the mat as it has given me a good focus point for crow pose. I haven't had any problems with slipping on this mat.Bottom line: Whether this is your first mat or 15th mat, I think this is a great mat at a good price.Update: (11 Dec 2012) This mat has a memory foam quality to it. Whenever you apply pressure to the mat, it morphs around the pressure point leaving a perfect indentation of whatever was pressing on it. For me, this has meant that I have been able to see how I am carrying my weight during my poses. This has helped me to readjust and, I think, get more out of my poses. For example, during triangle pose or warrior, I can tell whether or not I was rounding my feet or standing with my weight evenly distributed throughout my feet. Overall, it has just made me more conscious of how I carry my body. I thought this was worth sharing since I've noticed that no one else's mat in my class seems to do this. I love my mat!

Great product at a bargain price.
I bought this mat as a gift for my sister. She was shopping for mats that were twice the price of this one and which contained some harmful chemicals. When I found this and read the reviews, I knew that my sister would love it. I was right! She practices yoga often and tells me this mat is non-slip, had no plastic-like odor, and is very cushiony when she does lunges and balances on one knee. This mat is also lightweight and obviously made with attention to quality. The company even sends you personal emails to give you tips for care of your product to ensure that it lasts longer. Please support a small business and purchase a mat from here. The less expensive mats often do not provide enough cushioning and, ultimately, do not last. Three months into using this mat, my sister reports that it still appears brand new and feels just as comfortable. We are very happy and will certainly purchase more items from this seller.

Aurorae Yoga Mats - Ultra Thick, Extra Long with Focal point Icon and...
Aurorae Yoga Mats - Ultra Thick, Extra Long with Focal point IconI love my mat I got the green, it's longer than usual mats, I've had it for a year now. It survives my washing machine so that's an awesome feature. It smelled a tiny bit and was a little slippery when I first started using it but it's not too much anymore and the smell is long gone. I have become used to placing a towel down anyway because of perspiration and that may have been the original reason it was so slippery, who knows. This should last a long while, glad I made this purchase and would recommend it.

Light, but not very durable
I bought this mat because 1) it seemed to be lightweight, which is important since I'm carrying it everywhere, 2) it provided a little more padding than standard mats, and 3) a review said it was durable. I've used it for about 10 months. Durable it ain't. Granted, I go to yoga ~4x/wk, so it's gone through over 100 1.5 hour yoga sessions. The air cushions started ripping a few months into use. Now I regularly sweep away a pile of mat dandruff every yoga session. I wouldn't say this mat is any more durable than the cheap grocery store extra thick mat I replaced this one with - in fact less so since I used both sides of the old one.

Time Will Tell
I had a cheap mat that I loved, but it had seen it's day, and I replaced it...again...and again....and again. I just couldn't find a mat that I liked. Each replacement mat had an issue: one was too thin, one fell apart and faded, and one was deadly slippery. This mat was recommended to me by a gal in my yoga class.Since my last mat was deadly slippery, I was careful about reading reviews. It seemed as if every mat out there, even the pricy mats, had one or two complaints about it being slippery...some more than others. This mat had a lot of positive reviews, but more than that, it sounded like customer service was great. The price was reasonable, so I thought it was worth a try. I bought some rosin, just in case. The mat had virtually no smell right out if the bag. Still, I took the manufacturer's advice. I washed it (twice) and wiped it down. I hung it to dry in my basement shower, (which has great heat). It dried surprisingly fast!I used the mat yesterday for the first time. It was hot in the studio, so I had a rosin bag by my side, but I didn't need to use it! Not only did I maintain my down dog without rosin, but my feet were sticky on the mat, in a good way. The mat was long, and was very comfy. I really enjoyed the experience!I'll update this review if necessary, but unless you hear from me again, I'd recommend this mat. Good product for the price. BTW, I have the light green.

Very Nice Yoga Mat - Very Pleased
This mat works very well for my yoga practice which I have been doing for 6 months now. The mat was a little slick as all mats are when brand new due to the manufacturing process. I wiped the mat down with a little rubbing alcohol applied to a washcloth (Note: This was my own idea - not from the manufacturer). After it dried I applied a little of the resin powder that was included with the mat. I applied the powder where I position my hands and feet for downward facing dog. It was worked perfectly since then with no slipping. I haven't had to reapply the resin powder in over a week and have practiced yoga daily (no hot yoga). I ordered this mat to replace an identical one that I ordered years prior. I used the older mat primarily for sit-up,etc and just recently began using it for yoga and NEVER had a slipping problem. The mat was 7 years old and showing wear which is why I purchased a new mat. I am extremely pleased with the new mat.

slippery
Unfortunately this mat is very slippery. It is a beautiful mat, and feels great. It is soft and thick. I really wanted to keep it but I couldn't even do very basic yoga poses on it. If I could hold the down-ward-dog poste then I would have kept the mat, with the intention of breaking it in. The customer service was superb, and the mat arrived very quickly.
