Fisher-PriceiXL Learning System Software Disney/Pixar Cars 2

Fisher-Price and their iXL have once again ruined a special day for my kids. We bought this game for my son's birthday and just like Christmas last year, I have to explain to him that he can't play with his new toy. The installation from the CD went just fine, however, as soon as it was finished it tried to do the Auto-Update/download the actual software. It now just keeps giving me an error message over and over again requiring me to restart my computer just to make it stop. The iXL software was working just fine before I installed the Cars 2 disc and works just fine if I uninstall the title. You would think after the Christmas Day debacle, Fisher Price would have learned how to burn a CD with the actual software on it. If I ever get a hold of customer service or figure out how to fix my problem, I'll update my review with one of the actual software.UPDATE: FP updated their servers and the update now works. My son has been enjoying the game. If you've used any of the other iXL software you know what you're getting. The games are good and simple enough for the 3-5 age range and the interactive book is nice without being too long.

The Cars game is a good one and is comparable to the other IXL games, but after we purchased the game for our grandson and sent it home with him they couldn't load it as they have no internet access where they live. They called the company that offered to send a disk that they could load without internet. They said it would take 6-8 weeks to get the disk. Not much of a Christmas present if you have to wait until March to play with it. We did receive the disk in just a few weeks, but it was the Scooby Doo game (which he already had) and not the Cars game that we ordered. Long story short they had to bring the game back to our house to load it rather than deal with waiting for another disk to be provided. I don't think you should have to have internet to load a game that you have paid for and comes on a disk, we didn't pay for a download.

My son loves his fisher price ixl. He got it for Christmas in 2010 and uses it all the time so we decided to get him a couple new games this past Christmas to add to it. He has played it every day since. He loves Cars and usually makes me watch him play the games. The only thing that kind of stinks is that every game has the same 6 things; the music, games, pictures, tracing letters, coloring and story. Well the problem is that no matter which game you buy, the music, pictures and tracing letters are exactly the same on each one. Luckily, you can pick and choose which things you want to be uploaded onto the game so I can save some memory space by not adding those 3 from each game. It just seems like a waste of space to even have them.

I really wish FP would do a second gen of this player! It has been the only one to live through 3 little kids! InnoTab 1st & 2nd gen broke quickly. MobiGo lived a lot longer, but not that much more! We still have 2 out of 3 iXLs working and the iXLs are the oldest of all these items! This game is a good one. Not all are, but the nice thing was you could install on as many as you wanted. You don't have to sell a kidney for your kids to enjoy this little marvel.

If your child likes Cars I'm sure he/she will enjoy this game. My 4 year old son has an iXL (of course) but after this game was purchased he lost interest in the game sysem. I think he grew out of the system and wanted to move on to something more challenging.

The actual games is great, and my kid loves it. However, I tried to download it to the iXL using my Mac, but it is not compatible. Makes sense, since the software is like 6 years old now. I had to turn on my equally old Windows PC to get it to work.

I'm really mad about this product. My husband and I both have a Mac computer and this will not work on either although the company and packaging claim they work. In addition, the whole IXL system works in an archaic way. You have to load this game onto your computer before it can load onto the IXL system. So now I have an IXL for my son that won't play the games I purchased. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on the IXL myself. It was a Christmas present and my son can only play what was preloaded on it.I huge waste of time if you own only Mac computers.

Too bad the game memory card doesn't work for this, otherwise a great game. I have to reload and unload it from the game via the computer when he wants to play different games!
