It is sewn on. It is definitely on snug, like a ribbon sewn to a piece of fabric. It would be difficult to remove and if you were successful, it may be noticeable on the fabric.

Q: Will it need a petticoat?

I wear this without a petticoat. It looks sleeker and more period without one.

Q: Why is the belt so high on the torso????

it is high and I dont have the answer but if you are bug busted like me it was like a bustier , I also found it restrictive around the top

Q: If measurements are between sizes, would you go up in size?

Im 5’5” amd wear an 8/10 in ladies. I ordered up because of chest size. The corset can tighten, but it makes it longer in the back. I would order down unless you are Large chested... loved this dress btw!!!
