Versatile and makes great coffee
This is a very simple way to make great coffee and you can use it in many ways. You can leave the valve open and it will function as a V60 pour over. You can leave the valve closed and do a full steep and just drain at the end. Or you can do any combination such as a partial pour over with a portion of the water and then steep with the rest. Fun to play with, smooth, tasty coffee, easy to clean, and well made. For the price it is a relatively inexpensive way to brew good coffee in just a few minutes.

I love this. its simple but really effective. unlike bonivitas porcelain one this one has a solid switch system that doesn't have needless joints and weak points. it gets hot but you're supposed ot be moving it by holding the silicone neck at the base. THE BALL DOES NOT FALL OUT. I read a review that the ball falls out so be careful and it made me think twice about buying this before going ahead as its just about the only option these days. They added small silicone ridges in the opening that prevent the ball from falling out if its flipped over. it may come out if its formally shaken and tapped from the bottom. Thats general not normal for cleaning or using this so you should be safe. the taste of the coffee is as expected and I am quite pleased with this replacement to my old broken bonivita or the endless burst filter form doing immersion by putting the filter in the mug and folding the top over the edge to hold it. I recommend giving this a shot if you like the immersion dripper style. its attractive and works great. I cannot speak to cleaning just yet but the bonivita was foul and needed a screw driver to dismantle and clean this cannot be worse than that as its 4 parts total including the ball and leaver. I got the 03 and I would say just buy that and give your self the option to make a larger cup even if its not your normal. The 03 still makes just a few ounces less than bonivita but pouring a little extra water in as it empties into your mug is not a big deal.if any note is to be made its make the flange that rests on the cup lidd a little wider for larger cups but it works for all the ones ive tried so far only being somewhat questionable on the largest.

Best coffee toy there is, makes me regret all the money we have spent before trying it out.
The best coffee purchase for under $50, by far.The switch allows you to use both percolation and infusion in your brewing, providing much more balanced extractions and allowing a larger grind than would typically work for a percolation setup. By allowing the grounds to soak and infuse, it saturated the water much more than a straight pour over, and larger grinds will have better consistency in any grinder. That consistent grain size is key to an even extraction, and you would normally require a very valuable grinder to achieve this at smaller particle sizes without producing fines. This lets you meld the strength of pour over and french press without any of the downsides and a fuller body than either alone, and can be achieved with even pre-ground beans (shudder). What this all means is this $30 toy with a valve allows to achieve perfect balance of sour and bitter, allowing only the sweet sugary millard effect notes to be perceivable. It's so much more forgiving and rewarding than any other tool, you owe it to yourself to try.

Full, rich coffee flavor without the sludge
This is simply the best way to make drip coffee. Period! I have tried a wide variety of methods for brewing the best possible cup of coffee. I like coffee made in a French press, especially the ones that are insulated, but because they lack a paper filter they leave an unpleasant "sludge" in the bottom of my cup. I like a well made pour over coffee, but find it hard to bring out the full body and strength of the coffee that way. The switch on this coffee maker lets the coffee "steep" long enough to get all the great flavor and body a coffee has to offer, and then filters out the sludge. Voila! The perfect cup of coffee. The other contender in this category is the "Clever Coffee Dripper", which also makes great coffee, but is made of cheap feeling plastic. I much prefer the glass and silicone materials of the Hario Switch.
