which direction is open and which is closed?

I tried to post a photo, but couldnt figure that out. A picture is worth a thousand words but ill try to do it with less words than that. mount the device at the top of the tank, if the tank is full the float is up and the circuit is open...(In my case the alert light is off) . If the water level drops, the float drops and the circuit is closed and my alert light is on

What is the length of the leads on this switch?

I didnt measure the leads, but Id say 8"

what is the "closed" position (aka circuit continuity)?

When the tank is full continuity is open or broken, when the tank is low continuity is closed or made. Travel is aprox. 1 1/4 inch.

Can I use it in a hot water tank?? 203 F

I installed mine in the coolant expansion tank in my car. and it works there, but its only been a week, so I cant say long term

Works as expected

Very neat, does what I need it to do. The length of the leads is sufficient to reach a terminal block nearby. I connected it to a relay board with leds and I could see (and hear) how it switched consistently as I moved it up and down in a glass of water.

Easy to wire with optional mounting and lasted a good while.

Worked very well and I wired it inverted (an option). Lasted longer than other switches until the lime water here finally took it out. I recommend this switch.
