It's a Miracle!
We had sulfurous stinky water, especially out of the hot side and particularly if it sat for a week or more without being used. After adding an expensive filter, it fixed the cold side, but still had some of the stink on the hot side We were considering an aeration tank, when a friend suggested changing the anode to aluminum/zinc. After doing this, the hot water stink is GONE! This is in a garage guest room and sometimes sits for weeks without use, so we turn the water heater off. Even after sitting, NO STINK! I will say there is a slight metallic taste tot he water, but nothing drastic and far more agreeable than skunk breath water. Make sure you have enough space overhead to get the old one out and this one piece unit in, or look at segmented units. This was the perfect solution to our issue.

The eggs smell comes back in 2 weeks! Stay tuned!
Trying to get rid of rotten egg smell? This didn't last 2 weeks. This probably will not solve your problem.

Rotten rods
Bought 2 aluminum anode rods to replace the aluminum anode rods that were in my 2 50 gallon hot water tanks for about 15 years. For 15 years had no problem with water smell (well water) but after 15 years thought it would be a good idea to replace them. Received the anode rods and replaced them. After replacement my water now smells of rotten eggs. I reached out to the seller and the only responses I got was that I should've bought their $120 more expensive per tank electric anode rod! The product not of high quality aluminum aloy or deliberately sending out magnesium rods instead of aluminum to upsell customers is the practice of this company. Would not suggest buying from them period! Go to your local plumbing supplier and get the quality you deserve not an attempt to get more money out of you!
