Clean burning, and works great in the Solo
I forgot how good these things are. I started my Solo today and for some reason, I used a big starter log. Mistake! The big ones are too hot and put off black smoke (soot in the pit and on the heat deflector). I'm going to buy more of these little Solo fire starters and use these exclusively. They provide just enough burn time and fire to get your split wood going. A little more pricey than I would like, but a great product for the Solo.

There is no substitute
I made the mistake of buying another type of firestarter and I was hugely disappointed. Lots of smoke, not enough of a fire. So I went back to the firestarter that was made by Solo Stove for Solo Stove. these always work great and even though it's a little pricey, it's well worth it. I use three for each fore -- placed in a triangel pattern, with a little kindling on top to get things going. I always end up with a great fire.

Works great!!
Ordered the XL SOLO stove. Gave as gift to neighbors-friends. Starters worked wonderful.Used Solo pellets. Seemed to work okay till fire gets burned down too far…. Adding more caused gigantic SMOKE !!! Soooo, quit finally as it kept happening.However, think it’s a matter of getting use to “ how” to use it. They ( we) are not giving up. They said it’s the coolest gift!!
