does this stand swivel?

Yes it can. The arm sits in a clamp. There is a screw that keeps the arm moving back and forth in one direction, but, at least with a Blue Snowball, you can leave that screw a little loose and the pipe that is allowing the arm to sit in the clamp is long enough and properly fitted that it does not fall over or wiggle/wobble and can swivel 180 degrees nicely. I say 180 degrees because when I tried to swivel more than that, essentially off the table, it did lean a little. Hope this helps!

Does this stand work for any other microphones?

It comes with a screw that fits most, but this specific one comes with an adapter to fit the blue Snowball which is bigger.
