These use a silicone bung. The pros are the silicone bungs do not have a bad order compared to the rubber bungs. However, the silicone bungs are harder to get into the carboy bung hole and easily pop out of the bung hole after you install them. What works for me is that you have to insert the bubbler into the bung first, then force the silicone bung into the bung hole by pressing around the bung with your thumbs until the bung seats level with the top of the carboy. If you try to press it down any less and have any portion of the bung above the carboy top, then it will eventually pop out. Also, the inside of the glass bung hole and the silicone bung has to be completely dry. Any moisture at all and they will pop out.

I've been using these with gallon jugs I bought off of Amazon. First time I tried using one, I pushed it part way in, and it simply slid back out; didn't grip, or conform to the shape of the neck of the bottle. So, I pushed it in further, and it passed through the neck into the bottle! Ended up leaving that one in the bottle (pulled the airlock off of it, and it dropped to the bottom), and used another, holding it down with wire, as others have suggested. I continue to use two of these, as I didn't have another option, but am disappointed that I have to wire it down to get it to function.
