Love the idease
My 10 year old granddaughter loves the suggestions in the book. Since I am a sewer, I will be able to help her complete many of them.

Great sewing book for kids, buy the paperback!
As long as you get the paperback and not the Kindle version, this is a great introduction to sewing. I got it for my 7 year old for Christmas along with a basic sewing kit. She has been practicing and loves the projects; my only complaint is that you have to photocopy the the patterns, often at 200%, and since we have the Kindle version I thought I could just print them for her. Alas, Kindle does not allow you to print anything, so we cannot use the patterns. I am going to have to buy the paperback version for her to be able to actually make anything so I am not sure why a Kindle version is even offered!

A clear, consice, descriptive book of sewing projects and techniques
My soon to be 8 year old granddaughter is interested in sewing and has asked for a sewing machine for her birthday! I've been working with her sewing things by hand for about a year now. I saw this book and thought it would be just the right thing for her. While I haven't given it to her yet - 3 more weeks until her birthday - I can see it's just what she needs! I especially like how they tell you exactly what you'll need for each project, what type of stitching you will be doing, templates for making the projects, and my favorite - - a glossary of sewing techniques, complete with very clear diagrams of various types of stitching. Any young girl/woman could use this book for reference, if nothing else. I'm very pleased.

Fun ideas and nice pictures, but not user friendly
The projects in this book are very cute and perfect for a six year old beginning sewer. However, there are no patterns included, and the diagrams provided in the back of the book are not even to size. You are instructed to scan and print the images on your printer at 200%. Not all home printers have this option when scanning and printing. I was extremely disapointed when I started the first project with my daughter and realized that the diagrams provided are not even the correct size to cut out and use. Since my printer does not have an option to change the printing size when printing a scanned object, I had to measure and draw my own pattern pieces. The book is fun to look through with good pictures, but had I realized that the diagrams provided in the book are not user friendly, I would have looked for another beginners book for my daughter that provided ready to use patterns or diagrams.

Creative ideas and helpful hints for the beginning crafter.
This sewing book was purchased as a gift for my ten year old grand daughter. She is artistic and reads well. The projects that she has completed from this book are really cute. She made a doll for one of her sisters for a birthday gift and did it alone. Not only does the book give you ideas, but leads a child to use their imagination and augment the ideas into other projects. She loves the book!

GREAT BOOK! 7 and up.
I was going to give this to a 7 year old daughter of a friend, but have decided to keep it and make up kits for lots of kids. There are great projects in here and they're not too hard. I started sewing when I was about 7 and think this is a great little book. I may buy another and give it to my friend's daughter.

highly recommend!
This book is well worth the money. I bought it for my oldest granddaughters, who are nine and ten years old. They couldn't wait to start sewing. So they came to my house today and, with very little help from me, made the sausage dog and modified the sausage dog and made a snake as well. I helped them thread needles and use my sharp scissors but other than that they had no problems following the directions. Great product and well written. They are planning their next visit to Gama's and their next projects.

Better projects available online
I promised my soon to be 6 year old daughter that I would teach her how to sew after this Christmas. I put together a sewing kit for her and got this book to put with it for Christmas. I'm not really impressed with the available projects. I looked through the projects and most of them are what I would call filler projects. They serve no real purpose other then to fill up space. There are 1 or 2 projects we would actually be interested in. I'm still debating, but I think I'm going to return it and just use a bunch of great tutorials I found online for stuff that she actually would love to make instead of this weird mish mash.

Great for beginners
Bought this as a birthday gift for my seven year old great niece. When it arrived I was very pleasantly surprised at what was included in the book. It's brilliant as it explains different types of stiches, and all the basic things a sewer should know. A bonus is the many projects included in the book. I'm sure she will find this book a mine of information to start her on her sewing journey.

A great little book
I bought this for my 7 year old grandson's birthday and he loves it. I am a keen needleworker and I want to teach him some design work and sewing basics - sewing on a button, running stitches and blanket stitch (so that he can sew on his award badges himself). I chose the book because the illustrations show a boy selecting fabric and although some the things are girly, there are plenty of things for him to make. It has certainly sparked an interest and he has made a pirate toy and an owl so far. I have emphasised changing designs and selecting different colours and buttons and it is a good basic book with clear instructions and illustrations. He is now planning something for his younger brother. It is all hand work as far as I can see but I am teaching him to use my electric sewing machine to speed up the processes - for a boy this is great!!

really useful book
I bought this book to get some useful ideas for a workshop for adults with learning disabilities and it has proved an absolute hit. The projects whilst being aimed at children whom, I think, would find lots of useful and attractive things relatively easily made, also introduce many basic skills which can be built on both for children and for the adults I deal with. We have made several of the projects and everyone has enjoyed them immensly- the cat bag is next on the list. At the moment everyone is digging out their old tee shirts and those odd socks that hang around waiting for a match that never comes and those, together with a few bits of odd craft felt are going to turn into sock people and funky tee shirt cushions. I think these could keep children (and me) happy during rainy days in the summer holidays. I highly recommend this little book - useful, well written and very well illustrated.

A great book - perfect for aspiring sewers
This is a beautifully presented book with clear instructions and delightful photographs. It has a large range of projects which are categorised according to their difficulty. It also provides useful tips such as building up stocks of ribbons from presents etc, using buttons from discarded clothes. It also suggests specific projects from re-using clothes such as T-Shirts and Cardigans. My only reason for not giving 4 stars is that the patterns need to be photo-copied AND enlarged. This may not be possible for some people and providing a little folder in the back with paper patterns would have been better.
