I am pleased - It works as advertised
I purchased a Breville Barista Express with the built in grinder. The grinder does a lousy job grinding for espresso. More specifically the grinder in never consistent. Same bean, same settings, nothing touched, and yet a different consistency of grind each and every time. It was impossible to dial it in. I was ready to send back the whole Breville unit.I did my research and found out other folks who have bought this machine also have this problem. One gets what one pays for obviously.I noticed in many of the videos that I watched all used the same Breville unit and a stand alone grinder. I thought why not try that approach first before returning the whole espresso machine and starting from scratch.I agree with the results that I found. The Baratza Sette 270 is the least expensive yet great quality grinder for grinding espresso perfectly and consistently from grind to grind. It is able to extract / grind the finer flavors from the beans that lessor grinders can only dream about.Yes, I am very happy with my purchase and consistency of this grinder. One issue. The grinder did not work when I first received it. After going through the trouble shooting steps as outlined on the website I found that a wire came unhooked during the assembly of the grinder at the factory. It must have come lose during transit from the factory. It was an easy fix. Take off about 6 screws, pull the case, notice the wire off of the safety switch, reattach and tighten the wire then re-attach the case and screw in the 6 screws. Done, test and working just fine.Because I knew I would only use this machine to grind for espresso I did add the 2nd (included) shim to the base of the conical grinder. I read many users recommend to do this, so I didn't wait and just did it from the beginning. One last thing, SUCCESS, now that I am dialed in I am able to pull the following shot pretty consistently "the first time" and the taste is really smooth. 17.5gm beans, medium roast, 194F degrees brew, 4 second pre infusion, 27 second water flow, 35gm of brewed espresso. For me it's hitting the espresso jackpot. What about you?

Grinds well for espresso.
Fantastic for espresso grinds. I'm able to dial in a precise repeatable grind for good crema. People complain that it's loud, but whatever, doesn't seem to bother anyone. Italian National Institute of Espresso did an experiment for grind consistency across several grinders and this model had the best distribution per price in my opinion.
