Works great once you figure out handle shutoff switch
Handle shut off switch, no even mentioned in instructions, will cause most return of this device. So just like a regular chainsaw, you need to push the handle in locked position in order to allow the unit to function.

Great quality pole saw
Chain saw is very easy to use and cuts larger branches then the size of the unit would depict.

Big black flap...that thing...pull it.
After my husband spent all morning trying to figure out how to get this pole saw to work, I remembered reading that the manual wasn't updated. It's not, they're right. So I'm trying to explain how the hand guard/brake thingy needs to be pulled for the saw to work. Problem is, aside from it making no sense because WHY would you make the thing that is protecting your fingers also the thing you need to grab to engage the engine...whatever...but the flap/guard thing doesn't appear to move. It feels stationary. It feels like if you grab and yeet it towards you, you may break it. You won't. Or maybe you will, so don't hamfist it. So that black flap thing, that's what you have to pull.To start- after you've done all the tightening and oiling and you're plugged in...Push button in on the side with thumbat same time, pull triggerwith other hand, grab the black plastic flap (hand guard/brake/whatever you call it) and pull it towards you. You're thinking it's stupid, it doesn't move, it's not working, you should have gone to Lowes and they're going to be packed because it's the weekend and every housewife is getting tile and flowers...just keep pulling. You should be in business. If you're a wife, celebrate loudly that you "fixed it" then take the rest of the weekend off. Also, this pole saw is awesome. My husband appears to be enjoying it very much from what I can see through the window. Definitely feels like nice quality for less than $60. 4 stars because that manual needs to be updated.

Works fine but manual needs updating
After the company sent me the third version of this because the first two didn’t appear to work when plugged into the power handle, the customer rep and I finally discovered that you have to pull the saw chain brake forward to let the motor engage. NO WHERE in the manual does it say this. The first two customer reps were not aware of it. Rep said it was a safety feature added recently but they didn’t reprint the manual. The brake is properly labeled on the diagram but is never mentioned again. It looks like a hand guard to prevent the left hand from being hurt by the chain. Once the brake is off by pulling it toward you the motor can engage, and the brake acts as a hand guard. This is not intuitive at all and needs to be specified in the steps to operate the saw. Otherwise the unit works fine and is a handy attachment to the multi tool. but was frustrating delay of several weeks as I had to keep returning the units and calling support, waiting on hold, disassembling and reassembling the unit while on the call with the rep, demonstrating the handle worked on the other parts of the multitool, and didn't get a knowledgeable support rep until the third try.

Works great, but manual needs updating.
This is a powerful little chainsaw attachment! Works great for taking down big branches when attached to the pole that came with my Sun Joe pole hedge trimmer. I would have given 5 stars, but held back one because it took me over an hour to figure out how to turn it on. I read the manual 3 or 4 times, checked for power at the handle, and was about to give up when I finally found a review with the solution - you have to pull the hand guard towards you, rather forcefully, before it will start. This is not mentioned anywhere in the manual. For all you other DIY tree trimmers, just remember to take branches down in small pieces. I cut off one that was a little too big and it nearly knocked over my ladder. Be safe out there.
