Version 2.0 is awesome!
These are just pretty good. Better than anything else I have used, but not quite as strong as advertised. I like the cells well enough. They are quite sturdy and plenty deep for good root development. I had some trouble getting my seedlings out of the cells until I found a small salad fork to use that was smaller than the openings. My problem is with the trays. First I discovered that one them had a hole in it and does not hold water. Then I realized that the cells don't sit low enough in the trays to water the plants from the bottom. It takes a lot, really a lot of water in the tray before the water is high enough to reach the bottom of the cells. Enough that when I tried to move one of the trays with water in it the tray folded on me. I only use the trays with peat pots now and they work well for that. I use the cells in some larger trays that they fit all the way into, so I am getting use out of my purchase, but they didn't work the way I had hoped.Update 9/26/17Bootstrap farmer sent me 5 new sets after they redesign the sprouting trays.the redesign is terrific, they made the seedling tray tall enough to sit on the bottom of the bottom tray, so the seedling tray is even deeper than before. So better plant starts. I would not hesitate to recommend these to anyone now!

FOUL ODOR/SMELL
I ordered the 72 Cell w/ 1020 Tray - 5 Pack Combo and I received these in the mail a few days ago. When I opened the package I immediately got a foul odor coming from the trays. It literally smells like a mixture of cigarette smoke and burnt tire. I am seriously doubting these are BPA free because of this smell. BPA free plastic from Tupperware doesn't smell like this!! I am trying to grow my own vegetables to be more health-conscious and want to minimize the pesticides that are used on grocery store produce. However, I am quite skeptical that these will do any difference to my health. I am scared that the chemicals in the plastic will leach into my seed-starter mix and plants. I also noticed that the 72 cell seedling tray is a different plastic than the bottom trays (but they both smell bad). The 72 cell seedling tray has a grainy texture and had a lot of residue when I touched the inside of the cells. I have washed two sets of the trays with soap and water using a bottle pipe cleaner making sure every surface on these trays was clean. After taking the time to do all this, they still smelled horrible. I left them out to air out and hopefully reduce the smell, but it's been a few days now and the smell has not subsided. I read in the reviews that this company has amazing customer service, but I emailed them a few days ago and I still have not heard back from them. Quite the disappointment; I really wanted to like this and get my seeds started.

See Updates - Contact seller with any issues
Update March 24, 2021, they are still going strong one year later. Looks like they should last a few years.Update March 25, 2020I received new seed cells directly from Bootstrap Farmer. These are better and without flaws. They responded quickly and took care of the problem immediately. You can’t ask for more than that. 4 stars.Update March 21, 2020I was unable to contact Bootstrap Farmer through the Amazon app. I did find their email address in a internet search. They responded quickly to my email and will be sending me new seed starting trays directly. I will update when I receive them and look them over. 2 starsMarch 19, 2020 I bought this item based on the glowing reviews. For 65 bucks I thought I would receive a extra strength product as described. As you can see from the pictures every single one of seed cells has a weak spot that is tissue paper thin. In many cells the weak spot has cracked or has a hole. In the same area on most cells the plastic crumbles Or cracks as soon as you touch it. This will not withstand handling or the weight of soil and water. Very disappointing. I hope this was a fluke due to Amazon fulfillment and the seller rectifies the situation immediately. I will update if that happens. Until then I will use the much sturdier Ferry Morse Kits I bought at Walmart for $5 each. 1 Star

Great buy! Better product!
If you grow your own plants from seeds using the flimsy, cheap, 72 cell trays you can buy from a box store, stop. Do youself a favor and buy something worth while like this product. When you start moving the trays around or transporting them to where you transplant you'll be glad you made the purchase.

Exceptional
Very nicely made, heavy duty, didn't flex much even when full. And the roots go out the bottomto the water below. Nice system. Should be durable and lasting.Nice company to buy from
