I got these as I am constantly burning my hands reaching in to the oven. If I pull the racks out, it's never far enough; I'm always getting burns. My husband installed them and said it was very easy. The fact that I was home when he did it and didn't know he was doing it adds validity to his claim of ease. I have not burned myself since, not even while doing all of the Christmas baking. My only "complaint" is that I am still not used to raising the pan slightly when putting it in the oven to acommodate for the extra "height" of the guards. It's not a criticism of the product, just an annoyance I need to get past.

What do I dislike about this Product? Nothing at all!What do I like about the product? It is very easy to install, and you can leave it in place until you clean your oven.Several weeks before purchasing the Oven Rack Shield, my wife had burned her forearm, when reaching into the oven to retrieve prepared food. I asked her if I should purchase the shields from Amazon, and she stated that she did not need them. I purchased them anyway, installed them, and when she noticed them and tried them out, she became very impressed.

I have a double oven. I tend to use the oven on top. Therefore, the racks are high. I have burnt myself on the racks before. I saw this and decided to give it a try. They don't fit the full length of my rack. I tend to stick my hand in on only the right side of the oven when I'm cooking. When I started placing the shield on the rack, I started with the right side. It ran out about ¾ of the length of the rack. So, having the left side exposed is no big deal to me. Haven't used the oven yet to see how they work. (Not that I want to do a test run on their protection.) Just remember to take them off when you put the oven in self-cleaning mode.

For me these are really a baker's best friend....I bake a lot and countless times I've bumped a rack and ended up with a mighty burn. I didn't even know these existed until I saw them in a write-up and then I ordered them immediately. Easy to install, they are to withstand 450 degrees. All of my baking is well below that temperature so no worries there. They do get hot but not like hitting your hand on a metal rack hot. These are great insurance against big burns. I was also pleasantly surprised that the cost was under $15.00 for 3. This makes this a very attainable gadget for the home cook and a great gift for anyone who cooks or bakes a lot. Love them!

Great product if you have oven racks they fit. I have two ovens, both newer KitchenAid. They went right on the smaller one. However on the large oven racks the "rack wires" bend around the front piece with only about a 5" hand hold section smooth enough to install these. I cut my sheilds to fit in between the stay at the handle site. So while it will help with burn, it isn't near complete coverage. The problem is in the design of the rack though, not the Shields. Another brand had the same issue.

Just got these in yesterday, and I never measured (MY FAULT), but they are very short, and don't come close to covering the entire width of my oven shelves. The way the description was worded "LARGE 3 PACK to cover the ENTIRE length of your oven. Easy to cut to size.") , I just figured they'd be extra long, and you would just cut them to size. I should have read the details where they mention that they are only 14" long. You would need to use 2 of them as is and cut the 3rd to size to fill in the remaining gaps. As my oven has 3 shelves, I can't really do that. I'll just center them on the shelf and use them that way. That's the primary place where I get burned anyway.That being said, they appear to be sturdy and in good condition. Will try to update my review once I've used them for a bit.

The only thing that I don’t like about them is because of the configuration of my racks. The covers fit perfectly over the horizontal part of the rack but not over the intersecting cross pieces !

Work great. Avoids the burns when you accidently come in contact with oven racks. Easy to install and stay in place. Just purchased additional set. My elderly mil put oven on self cleaning and never thought about the protectors. She commented about all the ash in the oven after cleaning. I asked her if she removed the strips. She said "what strips?" Sure enough, there were no strips, just ash. Nice thing, they left no residue on racks. Just time to purchase new strips. She hasn't received any more burns from accidentally touching racks when placing or removing pies. Wife also likes them, and planning on buying more for stocking stuffers. Great product.

Quality appears highThe Oven Rack Shields were expensive in comparison to others listed on amazon.I have no way to compare since I have not evaluated the others.I wanted black because I'm hoping food stains are not visibleI had grey ones that stained and there was nothing I could do would clean them.

Perfect...now I wont burn myself!
