Used for measuring moisture on both grass hay bales and alfalfa. It was within 1% difference of a much more expensive meter I have...so I'd call that a good deal. Took off one star because the instructions are terrible and in broken English.

Like everything about it. Was priced great & does the job it’s supposed to.

Got this for testing our hay before putting it in the barn. Our hay has been in the barn for several days with no problems so far, We did round bales this year which is new to us. Bales are weighing about 8-900 lbs. You can stick this into the hay fairly easily. We took several readings throughout the bale from top to bottom and middle. The reading was all over the place from about 7 to 27! we would check a bale then try a different one and come back and the readings were about the same in the same areas. It has a light on the handle that you can see by just the light if it is good (green) or bad (red) and even a yellow. It did come with instructions but durning hay season who has time to read them. Has 3 buttons, one is zero, middle is on off or says fun, and the last button says hold. We tried zeroing the button and got the same reading as just turning it on. Can't say if it is accurate since we don't have one to compare it to. Left the high moisture bales outside just incase they were too moist. If it matters it is made in China.

I ordered this for my sister who raises horses. It is very important to know the moisture level, according to her, so you know the quality of the material is you’re buying.She was able to compare this to another, more expensive device and it was within a few percentage points so it appears to be fairly accurate.

I got this to measure the moisture in my planters, and if my lawn needs to be watered. In comparing various areas of my yard that get more sun than others, I could see a difference in the reading to adjust accordingly.This meter is very easy to use and so far, have not had to change the batteries. But, I'm not using this on hay, or other items cited, but, it was easy enough to convert. At the time of review, the price of $79.99 seems reasonable compared to other options. The quality of this appears fair, light plastic housing with long steel sensors.
