Nature's Way Boericke & Tafel Oral Ivy Liquid, Poison Ivy & Oak Treatment**, Relieves Itching & Burning**, 1 Fl. Oz

Evidently, this stuff has been around for a long time. I was complaining to a fellow worker how I kept getting Poison Ivy. Not so much as my working on equipment that was parked in weeds along dirt roads, as I was in mowing my own property. My place is ate up with it. Just working on my mower to sharpen the blades, blowing it off with an air hose, who knows...I was getting the rash. And I know to avoid the stuff...but still would get it. Anyway, he told me about this "Oral Ivy" that the electric company he worked for many years ago used to hand it out to them for free. They took it as a prevention. Just use it every day and you build up an immunity, he said. Well, I'm here to tell you that this product works wonders. He had also said that after he quit the electric company (and he runs a farm), that he didn't get Poison Ivy, etc. for 2 years. Well, I can't claim that yet...but I can tell you this. I DON'T GET POISON IVY anymore!...and I quit taking it over a year ago. Bought it in December of 2020.Now let me be clear here. I am no doctor. I am not a chemist, nor an allergy specialist. Use of this product is not listed on the label as a preventive. I'm not telling you to do this. I'm telling you what I did and it worked. Poison Ivy, Poison Oak, and Sumac are basically all the same problem, and here, we have all 3. I've had bad allergies to everything that grows, it seems, all of my life. As a kid it was a horrible thing to go through in school. I started taking allergy shots, after testing, and basically I was getting small doses of the things I was allergic to. And they worked. Not instantly, but over time, they worked. And worked quite well. Changed my life in school. This is basically the same thing to my mind. You are taking a little bit of what you have a reaction to, and you build up an immunity.Now, If you actually read all of this, you might wonder why I bought this in December of 2020. Well, if you read up on Poison Ivy, you will understand. It doesn't have "a season". Sure it appears to be dead in the winter but the resin is still there. I was cutting up a fallen tree with a chainsaw and got the worst case of poison ivy I'd ever had. Read up on Poison Ivy. Don't burn it, even if it's dead. It can put you in the hospital, or the morg. My father was "immune" to it, for years. Until he wasn't. He was cutting a patch of it down with a weed-eater and it sent him to the hospital.If you live in town, in the suburbs, or in some states, non of this is relevant. If you live where there is a lot of Poison Ivy, Oak, or Sumac....listen.

I USED to have poison ivy bad every year. I would have to stay home from work because it was so bad. I tried to stay away from my dogs and watch where I walked and stepped. I live in northern Minnesota so PI is abundant. I would have to gets shots from the DR. Cause it was so bad. Not anymore!!!! This stuff works. Just take it every morning in a splash of water. It may not stop it completely but will affect you a lot less. This stuff WORKS!!!

I am not very allergic, but my wife is much more allergic. We live in an area where it is abundant and we named this property Ivy Acres because of the amounts everywhere. Even I have managed to get some bad cases of it. So by necessity I have studied the poison ivy a lot and know things even many doctors don't.Obviously each person is different, but much also depends on the specific variety or area it grows in. i.e. I don't react nearly as much to the PI (Poison Ivy) in NY where we live as I do to PI in Indiana where I was born. Time of year, part of the plant you contact, how much contact and how persistent the contact all have significant affect on how bad you get it. In the same order; when it is GROWING FAST and sap is flowing heavy is the worst, ROOTS are the worst, of course MORE is worse for the last two. All of that to point out not much can be drawn from one or two experiences with PI with or without the use of Oral Ivy.If either of us because of our carelessness in doing what we know we should gets a bad case we must go to the doctor for that shot for relief. I seldom use Oral Ivy, but my wife uses it regularly when she is going to be digging or going around where it may be in the grass or brush and takes it after contact. It works pretty good most times but we have both had instances where it was the worst combination of those factors mentioned above and a shot was needed.One very important step to avoid the allergic response is washing as soon as practical with a soap or product that will cut and remove the oil from your skin that carries urushiol the irritant that we react to. Dawn works pretty good and Tecnu makes a skin cleanser specifically for that purpose.The very best solution is no longer available because most doctors didn't know it was available and low use got it taken off the market. That was a Doctor prescribed PI juice with a method for getting it to your stomach with out it touch anything in your mouth or throat. You may see some suggesting it can be eaten. DO NOT Try that. Some mat get away with it, but many end up in the hospital with blisters in their mouth and throat.

Been using it for seven years. Start in mid-March and take it daily until October. I used to get poison ivy really bad and I haven't had it in seven years.
