Arrived on time, NIB Review: The little ICU book is big on knowledge - That should be the caption. As a third year medical resident, I was a little late on discovering this book but better late than never. It doesn't have the expansive explanation especially as far as pathophysiology is concerned as the "ICU book" from the same author but it does what it set out to do and then some. It provides quick management tips as well as the salient points for diagnosis. It is easy to read, easy to retain and easy to carry. However this book is a text book in its own right. The chapters follow the same set up as the big ICU book and similar to its parent, each chapter is full of references for further read. A great pleasure to read and a must have for any medicine resident or for those who are interested in more than simply surviving their ICU rotation.

Love it!
This book is amazing! I wanted to buy it for a long time but it was kind of pricy. I finally decided to purchase it and it was so worth it! If you are hesitant, don't be. It is the best investment you can do. I love this book! I use it literally every day in my ICU, it covers a lot of stuff, short, to the point, everything you need to know. Easy read. I highly recommend it!!!

Very handy
I used this book throughout my CTICU rotation. It was my first time in the ICU and whenever something I didn’t know I would look it up in the book and there was always a chapter discussing it.

Great book for residents
This book is written in very simple and easy to understand style. If you have the larger ICU book by the same author, this could be a good summary and quick reference. Its not intended to be text book so its fairly condensed. A good book for 2nd year and third year residents doing their ICU rotation

Great resource for critical care!
I've only started reading this book, but I already love it. I am a current nurse about to transition into ICU nursing and wanted a leg up before making that switch. This book is clearly laid out, has easy to understand and read information, and is based on beat evidenced based practices. It's essentially a mini textbook, but it is exactly what I was looking for to understand ICU care for someone who isn't quite there yet.

It is very well written and fits in my labcoat pocket very easily. One thing I didn't care for (but not ...
PGY2 resident, mostly used it on my inpatient rotations. Found it to be very helpful and to the point. It is very well written and fits in my labcoat pocket very easily. One thing I didn't care for (but not hated) is the fact that they mention drug doses, routes and how to load/maintain a drug concentration which is now mostly taken care of by pharmacists. Definitely not a major issue...I just skipped those sections. Highly recommend it for residents.

Extremely helpful and clinically practical
As a general surgical resident, doing my ICU rotation in a very high risk hospital, managing SICU and CCU patients, even running 2 ECMOs, this book was a life saver. Information is succinct and pertinent. I felt like a total boss being able to explain why we did things that were otherwise just wrought tradition while putting in central lines and dosing sedatives. I strongly suggest this as a quick reference for the ICU.

First of all, the packaging and delivery of the product went well. The book itself is smaller than I had thought, which is even better. The font is very comfortable to read. And it has everything you need to know about ICU

The ICU book 第3版を通読し感銘を受けました。つまり、例えばどの治療法が効果あるのかについて、そのエビデンスを検討し解説している点が新鮮でした。 The Little ICU Bookは同書の要点を抽出した版です。ただし全ての章が最新に書き改められ、Evidence-based 診療ガイドラインの推奨を重視しています。 最新のThe ICU Book第五版の出版はまだです。本書に目を通しておくことで得られるものも多いと思います。

Significant mistakes in the "hemodynamic drugs" chapter, sometimes mixing up the Greek letters. I was trying to understand less commonly used drugs in my practice, and was getting confused. Thankfully I realised this is due to mistakes when I got to ones I am more familiar with. This is only the second chapter I've read, absolutely does not inspire confidence. Will not be using any more.
