If you shine a light on it, be it spot light, laser or the sun, it will reflect it into many different directions, creating a great light show. It will still work in the dark, but it will only reflect the darkness.

I know it says that the item is made out of foam, but is it hollow?

it’s a foam ball with mirrored tiles stuck onto it, so it doesn’t appear to be hollow, but still very light because it’s made of foam inside
