I saw this at a friends place first and immediately decided I needed it too. I’m so happy that I got it because it came in really handy for Thanksgiving! I made roasted chestnuts and used some as snacks and the remaining in the stuffing, yummy! It made pre cutting the chestnuts MUCH easier. I can’t recall how many times when I used a pairing knife it slipped and cut my hand. With this tool, all I had to do was place the nut in the holder and press, and it was done! The cuts were beautifully even and deep. After roasting the shell pulled away at the cute, making it much easier to peel open. If the inner skin was still attached to the nut, I could use the accessories in the toolset to scratch it off. Overall very happy with the purchase. Our friends that came over for thanksgiving said they’d get a set too.

A big time saver, as well as being safe, as compared to making X-cuts with a knife. Since chestnuts in a bag are usually of different shapes and sizes, I use a simple trick with small chestnuts of placing up to 3 quarters in the cutter, under the chestnut, to raise it’s height to allow for a nice, clean X-cut.
