Delicious! Hint of heat, slighty chunky
I will admit, off the bat, that I am a fan of all types of curries - so definitely biased here! I had never heard of goan curry, so was eager to give it a go! I can't really say how "truly Indian" this sauce is compared to its namesake, but in doing a bit of reading it seems that a prime component of a goan sauce is the flavor that comes from either mango, lime, or tamarind - and this sauce has no fruit component, so I suspect the flavor is not truly comparable to a goan curry you would find in India. That being said,....This sauce is delicious! It has a little bit of heat to it, but not much. Texture wise it's a sauce with a bit of a chunky texture, not completely smooth, but no chunks of significant size - think more like an olive tapenade size chunks. I don't think I've had a curry before with a main ingredient of onions, if I didn't know it was one of the main ingredients (which are listed by percentage on the label, kind of fun!) I wouldn't have guessed that's where the sweetness comes from.Goan is usually served with fish, but I will always choose chicken over fish - so chicken and rice it was. I think this sauce would also be delicious on root or cruciferous vegetables. My only complaint is that it needs a bit of salt. I understand that salt is a personal preference though and that it's better to go low as customers can always add it - I do feel like adding a bit of salt really brought out/enhanced the flavor profile of this sauce though. One more note - I wish it came in a bigger size. This size is perfect for an individual to use over the course of a week or for a couple to share a nice meal, but even when you add some chicken and serve over rice it's not going to extend much further as far as number of servings goes. Serving it for a larger group will require a few bottles. Cheap? No. Great flavor ready to go from the convenience of your home, so you can skip the restaurant (& the work!) and still get the ethnic experience? Yes. Relative to eating out the cost is more reasonable.

Greasy, lacks flavor
I've never had Goan curry sauce before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was kind of bland and very greasy. I even added roasted cardamom seeds to it, with little effect. However, it was better than many jarred sauces as it didn't have that sour flavor many of them have. You also get quite a lot of sauce, and it was enough to generously coat 2 cans of chickpeas. Overall, a pretty average sauce.

Tasty simmer sauce pantry staple, with organic ingredients
I really enjoyed this Truly Indian Organic Goan Curry Sauce. It's a tasty, relatively mild curry base with organic ingredients. The listing should be updated as the curry sauce no longer includes milk cream in the ingredients list. I'm relatively new to cooking Indian foods, so I don't have a spice rack full of Indian spices, and these simmer sauces allow me to still make tasty dishes. I ended up improvising a hearty curry dish with pork and a frozen vegetable blend, served over turmeric rice, and the family loved it.

Mild Taste, High In Sodium
The Truly Indian Organic Goan Curry Sauce arrived in perfect condition in a glass bottle. I poured it over rice and was surprised how mild it is. It has a good thick texture and would pair well with chicken or tofu. It's made with wholesome ingredients and is quite appetizing though somewhat unremarkable. There is sugar, but at least there's no corn syrup.I wouldn't say this is the best I've tried, but it has a decent curry flavor. It would probably be ideal for those not ready for more "adventurous" curries. Like most sauces of this type, it's very high in sodium at 830 mg so I consider it a treat food. However I do appreciate the convenience of just opening the jar and using it in a dish. The chunks of veggies set it apart from a simple powder mix that you would add coconut milk to. My bottle has a Best by date of March 2023.Product of India~ Kort
