The One-Page Financial Plan by Carl Richards - Paperback

Eines meiner Lieblingsbücher
Carl Richard stellt die richtigen Fragen. An uns.

Another great read from Carl Richards
Another great read from Carl Richards. There is a lot written about financial advise and more and more about financial planning. A lot of what is written tends to be a lot touchy feely stuff followed by a chapter on the technical detail stuck right at the end. In many cases the message tends to get lost, especially for people that just want to learn more about how they manage their finances. This is not the case with Carl. He manages to put across a clear case for how people should be thinking about money and breaks up the commentary with those wonderful sketches that just make you smile as you get the message contained with in them.I should say at this point that I am a financial planner so I am literally saturated with material on the topic. I read everything that Carl publishes and share a lot of it with clients. The mundane and technical aspects of finance just seem a lot easier to handle in the way he explains it.Great stuff. Cant wait to read the next one.

Good info for budgeting, investing and making financial decisions. Not so good for insurance advice.
Carl offers a lot of good, simple ideas for financial planning, and this book is a quick, easy read. I enjoyed it. My biggest complaint is that the author doesn't mention the need for disability insurance for anyone dependent on their work income. The odds of a disability are too great to ignore this coverage. One in four 25-year-olds will suffer a disability by age 65.And, the blanket statement that term life insurance is THE type of life insurance to buy is oversimplification. Term is good in that it provides temporary coverage for large needs at a low cost early in life. However, the need for life insurance changes over one's lifetime and there are tax and retirement planning advantages that only permanent (whole life, universal life, indexed universal life, and variable life) insurance can fulfill. One should review their needs and then select the product(s) most appropriate for their situation. What may be appropriate at one stage of life may not be at another stage; and there may be needs for both term and permanent life insurance. If you are looking for a quick guide to budgeting, investing and making financial decisions this is a good read. For good insurance information, look elsewhere.Scott Mounger, CLU, ChFC, CASL

common sense with US-style illustrations
Very very basic. It might help open a family discussion on what you want to plan for. If you've read a finance book before you probably don't need this.
