If you're into painting miniatures, especially slightly larger models like monsters, some vehicles, or larger Warhammer figures, the Games Workshop Citadel Colour Painting Handle XL is an absolute game-changer. This is perfect for Bigger Minis, The XL version comfortably holds bases between 50mm to 105mm, making it ideal for larger models that don’t fit in a standard painting handle. It provides a stable grip, which is essential for fine detail work. The handle feels comfortable in hand, reducing hand strain during long painting sessions. The weight and balance are just right, making it easier to rotate and access different angles without dropping your mini. Even when tilting or rotating the model, it stays in place securely. Like most Games Workshop accessories, it’s not the cheapest option. However, the quality and ease of use easily justify the cost if you frequently paint large models.

brilliant for larger miniatures
having tried the regular miniature stand I was looking for something to use on my larger miniatures. as you would expect from GW this stand is well designed and is easy to use.

Handling the job….
Might not be fit everyone but this in conjunction with the assembly kit have helped improve my mini painting by providing a solid base that means the tremors I have in my left hand are completely negated. No one really mentions this benefit and it seems unlikely it was part of Citadel’s plan when they designed these tools to work together but it’s enabled me to continue and develop as a mini artist when I thought I might have to stop.
