Don't overfill
This thing has been amazing. Both of my cars have engine top oil filters so I park our cars just outside of our garage so that the oil flows towards the front. My Audi is the worst one for doing oil changes, but I now even use this on my wife's Volvo XC90. I have used the pneumatic adapter once, but I don't really feel like I need to if the oil is warm enough. So long as your dipstick is in the front and filter is on top, this makes oil changes almost relaxing. The only problem is if you get up to about 9+ qts the oil will hit the little vacuum part and it won't work anymore. Good news is if you let it sit the oil seems to bleed out and it works again, I've done it twice now. So I recommend draining it every 9 qts (wifes volvo is ~8 qts and it's fine for her oil changes, I just ran out of used oil space and left a quart or 2 and tested my luck).Don't tip it too quickly or else it will hit the vacuum part and it wont work!!! DRAIN SLOWLY! Like not super slowly but a nice pour that doesn't hit the top of the unit. That or like I said you will have to let it sit and the vacuum part will slowly drain itself over time it seems.Other than that, this thing has been fantastic, I no longer have to lay on my back for oil changes or worry about my driveway or garage getting hit with an ounce of oil...Just keep in mind, it's going through your dipstick. If you have one and it's located on the side or back of the engine, I don't necassarily recommend this product unless you know where the dipstick goes and you are sure your engine is at the best level to get as much oil out as possible. And if the filter is on the bottom, there's no reason for this unless for some reason you can't get the oil drain bolt out.

A little less than I expected but still good
I thought the suction would be stronger and move a bit faster being pneumatic... from what I read it requires a bit of trial and error to get it perfect. I also thought you could reverse the suction to put fluid back into the viechle but it's just and extractor. Not sure I would of paid the price I did if I could of found something cheaper that worked faster.

Great tool for any mechanic!
Works effortlessly, and so much better than others I’ve owned. Glad I made this purchase.

Great product
Bought this for our new Audi in anticipation for future oil changes (as they do not have drain plug) used it on the Mazda first as it was due for an oil change and absolutely love it. I used the hand pump action first to see how it goes but was a little slow so I hooked up the air compressor hose to it and was much easier and faster. Took about 5 minutes to suck out the oil but saved me much more time than that , not having to Jack up and support with stand to crawl under the car.I will be using this for all my oil changes including transmission. No more dropping the pan with a full tranny. A little expensive but well made and worth it, considering the time it saves and the hassle of crawling under the car every oil change. I would by this again but feel as though I won’t have to as it is made to last.Dennis

Super product
This is worth the money. The product is mostly plastic but it is very well made. I have other ARES products besides this one. All of them are well made. About 15 pumps sucked out 7 quarts of ATF in less than 2 minutes! This product works by creating a vacuum inside the tank. It's Kind of like a pump garden sprayer in reverse. You don't have to constantly pump. Just pump a dozen or so times and the vacuum will do the rest. Emptying is easy. Just remove the main hose and tilt and pour out the top spout. The only issue I had was none of the supplied hoses where long enough to get down the dip stick tube. This is a common issue with these pumps. I replaced one of the hoses with some tubing from tractor supply and a hose clamp and was in business. I do all my own automotive fluid changes. This will save me a lot of time and crawling under a vehicle. I should have bought this years ago.

Just as good as other name brand extractors
First impression it seems like a high quality item. Ive used mityvacs since they were invented but my only issue with the mityvac was the pump valve would always leak and make a mess. Back to this Ares extractor I have only used it a few times and man is it good a few pumps emptied out the reservoir of that amg abc tank which is about 4 quarts of chf 11s. Used it to extract trans fluid on a 722.6 mercedes for a 3-4 quart fluid change and this thing does what its suppose to do.The tank of the ares has labeling on the side which tells you how much fluid is extracted which is really great when working with transmissions and expensive fluids. I have not tested the pneumatic portion of this extractor. Didn’t use the hoses that came with it because i already had hoses i used for services that were a bit longer. This extractor has a high capacity tank which makes it stand out and is great for mercedes v12 engines that use 9.5 quarts. The only thing I liked more on the mityvac was the ability to pump the old fluid out rather then drain it.

Great value and excellent design
This extractor makes oil changes in my Audi a breeze. As some other reviewers mentioned, the instructions are lackluster bit if you're halfway competent in a garage you'll have no issues. Everything is well put together and fits securely. I was impressed with the organization and design concepts on this, these justify the additional cost vs competitors.I paid extra for the Pneumatic option, however the manual pump works so well I'm not sure I'll need it.Love the volume lines on the outside, would recommend.
