Excellent food waste bin
I purchased the stone color countertop model a couple of months ago, once I decided it was finally time to start separating and recycling my food waste (we have a municipal collection program). This model was more expensive than some others I considered, but it looked sturdier and more attractive. I'm extremely pleased with it. I keep the bin on my countertop next to my cutting board and I don't mind the look of it at all. It is easy to use (lid has a convenient tab for opening and it stays propped open well when you're chopping etc., and the size of the bin is perfect for my family (which ranges from 2-5 people depending on who is around). When the lid is closed, the bin is odor-proof. I ended up buying the FORID 1.2 gallon small compostible bags as liners and they work well. You can twist the excess bag length and catch it in the designated hole in the base of the bin to keep the bag tight. All in all, a great product.

Nice countertop solution
I've been using this for about a week after being very resistant to saving food scraps. I like the size - it's perfect for daily use. Our city has us add scraps to our green/landscape bin so composting is fairly straight forward. The countertop bin they provided us was just absolutely terrible so I've been hunting for a decent replacement ever since. This looks really nice in the kitchen, you wouldn't know it was full of food scraps. It's a good size, it's small so it doesn't take up too much space, but roomy and really easy to clean. The lid opens up nicely and is lightweight so it doesn't tip the bin (like the city provided one did...) The metal handle is also a great upgraded feature. It just feels sturdy and well made. It's still winter so the bugs aren't out yet, so I'm not sure how well this will deter pests. I'll update if we end up with a fruit fly problem.

Just get it. You won't be disappointed.
I was so sad that the top of my other compost container somehow ended up missing after my siblings visited while I was away. Then I found this one. It takes up more room on the sink than I would like, but it also emits zero smells. It's easy to keep clean (my criteria for any trash or waste items) and it comes apart quite easily to remove the full bags (it even holds more). It even fits the bags that I had bought for the previous Aldi's container I had held onto for so long. This was definitely an upgrade. I am very happy with the product. I searched and searched. This is the one.

Nice tote, customer service doesn’t answer inquiries
This is the only countertop composter that I found that at first look, appears to be designed correctly. That is, air can come in through holes that start in the bottom and open into the inside, then the air goes out through the carbon/charcoal filter on the top, kind of like an attic ventilation system works (air comes in through the sofits and out the roof vents). This should allow the contents to dry out preventing bugs and mold, while at the same time not allowing any bad smells to get into your house. Units that only have the carbon filter on top, but no way for air to flow through, will attract bugs and mold, and if they are stainless steel, acid from tomatoes will eat holes in the sides of the steel. That being said, after buying and owning this for 4 years, I can tell you that it doesn’t work quite as well as I had hoped as far as not getting bugs. It does get a few fruit flies. The unit is made well, being sturdy and having a nice handle for transport. Now the bad:*It is SMALL (see submitted picture, and note the coffee maker as a reference for size). If you put alot of compostable waste in this it won't take long to fill up (see submitted picture). Stretch your space by only using it for organic waste.*It is ONLY ONE GALLON in capacity, so you pretty much have to buy the compost bags made by Joseph Joseph (and they are a little expensive at $15 for 50) in order to get a proper fit, since other companies with better prices have 1.2 gallon bags or larger, .*The carbon/charcoal filters from Joseph Joseph are ridiculously EXPENSIVE at $16 for two very small thin ones, but you should be able to buy less expensive ones and cut them to fit.*The cover over the carbon filter on the top is kind of HARD TO REMOVE. There are two release clips on the underside of the lid that you have to push to get it off to access the filter (see provided picture) and it takes a clip pushing, pushing up, pulling from the top action to open the filter case. All in all, I would recommend this item as a temporary way to store compost before transferring it outside to your large composter and avoid smells in your house in the meantime.UPDATE: I accidentally knocked off and broke the clips on the filter cover for this. I found that Joseph Joseph sells what appears to be the replacement part through their website. I wanted to be sure it was the correct part for my model, so I wrote them, and got NO RESPONSE. I am knocking this review down by one ⭐️ for bad customer service after the sale.

Great Compost Bin!!!
We have been using this compost bin in our kitchen for over 1 year and we are so happy we chose this one. It has a large enough lid opening to easily place food scraps. Plus, the lid stays open when you lift it all the way up. Our kitchen never has a bad food odor anymore thanks to placing all of our compostable items in this bin. Non-compostable items are the only things that now go in our garbage bin. This really helps trap and eliminate any bad food odors; even onions!!!
